Being a huge Matlock fan of the 80s series, I was excited to see this new show. I was more curious about how they were going to show the relationship between Ben Matlock & the current Maddie Matlock. Very interesting concept, indeed. The first part of the show was a bit slow moving as you got to know the characters but they made up for it during the last half of the show. I'm definitely hooked and look forward seeing many more episodes. Kathy Bates, who is one of my favourite actors, was just brilliant. Jason Ritter is not to shabby either. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this show does well.
Years ago, when the show was live on tv, it was hit or miss when I watched it. When I did, I thought it was brilliant right from the story line, the music & the investigation techniques. Jerry Bruckheimer as Executive Producer at his finest. The show is now available on Prime & I'm now happily binge watching between Christmas & New Years this year. It, truly, is one of the best crime shows. I love how they show the character flashbacks , which gives more clarity in the shows. Brilliance at its very best.
Lilly Rush, Nick Vera, Scotty Valens & John Stillman are favourites of mine. I did really like Chris Lassing (aka Justin Chambers (Grey's Anatomy fame) who starred in the first few episodes but his exit was explained.

I thought this might be as exciting & suspenseful as the 1944 movie but was disappointed. The storyline was great but I felt it was poor acting for the most part. The best of the lot was the actress who played Kendra, the best friend.
