From my point of view, this movie portrays not only the essence of love and everything that it brings with it, a little bit of happiness, a little bit of sadness, a little bit of fear, as well as insecurity and doubts, questioning and finding one's true self, especially when two cannot be together for any reasons ... but as well all the importance that people from the immediate environment have on an individual's life , benevolent ones, like parents and friends in this case, but also the malicious ones ...
Highly recommended to watch, more than once, if you want to notice all the finesse that the crew that worked on this project performed masterfully!
On the other hand, as good as the movie is, it's just a hint of the book, so ... I fell in love with the movie, but if you want this story to blow your mind, read the book :)

An incredible true story like this could have been turned into a much better movie!
I believe that Dennis Quaid's acting would have been much better if he had been surrounded by a better team. Unfortunately, the actors who played his wife and daughters were, like most of the other characters, far from convincing.
Throughout the movie, I couldn't lose the feeling that something was missing while some other things were completely unnecessary present. Almost every character was incompletely portrayed.
Many flaws of this movie are noticeable from the very beginning, but as a fan of Dennis Quaid, I watched it until the end.
The overall impression is improved by the authentic recordings and photographs at the very end, without which this film would unfortunately be quite a failure.

Predictable, moderately solid...
And it could have been much better if only the plot wasn't so drawn out...
There is a lot of idleness, some situations are unnecessarily emphasized, some are insufficiently emphasized, even the acting in some scenes looks dilettante...
Regardless, I don't regret watching this movie because I'm a huge fan of both Susan Sarandon and Emily Blunt... for whom it's not possible to see all the endless finesse of exceptional acting quality in this movie, but not every movie can or should be a masterpiece- work, which does not mean that it is automatically trash.
A movie for a rainy Sunday afternoon, under a blanket with a cup of tea...
