Hugh Grant's back must have hurt from carrying this movie. His character was sort of an amalgam between a sincere Mr. Rogers and a maniacal Willy Wonka. He incorporated humor and horror- that's not an easy task.
The movie was too heavy on the philosophy and didn't have enough of the cat & mouse chase scenes. It encouraged me to ponder and reflect, but didn't quite have me on the edge of my seat. I must admit that I thought a little too hard about the symbolism or film's purpose, that i got distracted in following the story.
I would have probably appreciated this more if I saw it in a theater.

This is one of the funniest independent movies I've seen all year. I loved the zaniness to the story and how the characters were not exaggerated or over the top. While it's not a romantic movie and much of it is predictable, the film's locations and cultural references made it a fun experience.
Jamie Lee is excellent as the conniving Piper. Jon Heder needed this resurgence - it was a perfect role for him. The one thing preventing me from scoring the movie higher was that some characters were under utilized or not well defined. I think that showing more scenes of how Piper interacted with Cameron's (or perhaps Evan's parents) would have upped the ante. Imagine being told that you're going to become grandparents for the first time, and that dream is snatched away from you. That would have been an interesting reaction to see.
The movie ended on a sweet note, although abruptly. So I do recommend that folks watch this for a date night. Not quite a masterpiece, but it's good-natured and well acted.

The movie is in a league of its own, I don't even think Lifetime or Hallmark could have produced something this awful. The performers are all stiff as cardboard and don't have a good screenplay to work with. The music is overly festive, the neighborhood feels like a utopia, and Chris Reid's effeminate voice got old after two scenes.
People will compare this to Freaky Friday, which is a laugh-out-loud family comedy with tremendous performances. I suppose that there were a couple of laughs with Love Switch, but these characters are all mindless idiots and you're sort of laughing at these actors, not with them.
