Entertaining, rather bizarre concept to make a love story out of a bubble boy and a rock star but the movie "Crystal Heart" rather pulls it off. Based after a Spanish novel, the movie stars Tawney Kitaen at her sexiest. She probably could have had a singing career. Lee Curreri of "Fame" falls for for Tawney through her videos, as so many of us did back in the 80's.
Erotic love story mixed with rock music and melodrama creates an entertaining mix. Soundtrack is excellent. The movie was shot in Los Angeles and Mexico with an international crew. When it was first released theatrically it was in the top ten films released in Spain that year. Producer Carlos Vasallo went on to produce a Penelope Cruz movie years later.

Purple People Eater is such a fun movie for kids and if you watched it first when you weren't a kid, you will never quite get how good it is. The original Sheb Wooley novelty song has sold over 100 million copies and the film is as classic and funky as the original song. The film is low budget but taps into kids' imagination.
Director Linda Shayne cast Shelley Winters, Ned Beatty, Little Richard, Chubby Checker, Peggy Lipton in this low budget movie with heart. The movie also stars kids who were unknown at the time, including Neil Patrick Harris and Thora Birch, who won a Youth In Film Award for her first performance in a feature film.
The soundtrack for the film has classic 1950's songs in it, including Little Richard's "Good Golly Miss Molly." I loved this movie as a kid and my son is enjoying it now.

Flyin' Ryan is for young kids. It's about a boy who moves to a small town and then gets magical shoes that allow him to fly. The lead actor, Andy Weiss, looks like a young Ron Howard and he is terrific as "Ryan".
Damon Schoeffler, who portrays the bully, is great as bully. Actor Bruce Tenenbaum, who portrays the bully's father, is hysterically funny, yet ominous enough. The movie is low budget and shot on video, but it is meant for young kids, like my younger sister and brother (ages 5 and 7), they think it is great. The magic shoes are Heeley's and any young kid who has those wheeled tennis shoes will really enjoy this flick.
The soundtrack is strong. Composer Mel Lewis has scored dozens of movies including many for Roger Corman.
