The story of "The Departed" is vaguely based on the 2002 brilliant Hong Kong thriller, "Infernal Affairs", which achieved great success in Asia before being released in the U.S. in 2004.
The story is about how two rookie cops join the Massachusetts State police department with each their different aims.
One's an informant for the mob and the other one's an undercover agent infiltrated in the Irish Mafia.
Once they both know there's a rat in their camp, the hunt is open! The movie then quickly turns into a game of cat and mouse as they try to discover who the rat is.

The movie tells about the drug smuggling Pioneer "Pedro Rey". He was the person who preceded Pablo Escobar as Colombia's main cocaine dealer in the early 1970's. The movie is produced and filmed in Cali (Colombia).
The movie mainly tells how Pedro Rey became the most famous cocaine dealer in Colombia and how he made it possible to handle in overseas drugs dealing.
The film exposes how the drug money can corrupt politicians, police forces and his own family. The movie was well acted and the characters very real.
Personally I found it a great movie, because it had a great truth level.

Children of men, is a movie that takes place in the near future, more precisely in 2027 ( which is over 20 years )and it's due to that short time difference that it's almost horrifyingly believable.
You just have to think of the different Wars, the corruption, the Pollution (-> people are becoming less fertile and the climatically changes), the religions,...!
Ironic then perhaps that it must be said, Children of Men is a cinematic milestone with great special effects and an an enormous possible truth level!
Easily one of the best films in recent memory.
