Sergei Alexander's "Your Eyes on Me" refuses to pull punches in its examination of complex relationships and the surrounding trauma. "Neon Boys" is earnestly a sweet and short story that is elevated into something magnificent with the glittering and breathtaking work of directors, Mattioli and Salazar, and cinematographer, Cory Green. The simple plot is compensated for in the encompassing environment of the film. Dazzling lighting emphasizes and characterizes the setting as much as it aids in bringing the characters alive. Likewise, the shadows it casts give presence to the film's darker underbelly. Kinkel and Salazar's natural and smooth acting compliment the other elements perfectly. The pure emotions of the film can never be mistaken.
