This is a really terrifying show .... terrifying in the fact that a group of people, somewhere, are receiving checks to write a "comedy" and THIS is what they've come up with.
It's terrifying that producers, writers, studio execs, et al. All think this is a comedy. And more terrifying when one considers thousands, in reality probably hundreds of thousands (or millions), of dollars are being spent on this.... well.... pile of.. excrement.
All this is most likely because they managed to land Leary and Puti in a starring roles. Leary must owe someone a favor, or must be feeling bored and have some drive to get back into the spotlight in ANY way possible. But Leary is well past his prime it appears and this role isn't fitting for him. If anything, Leary appears to be "held back" from being is real, acerbic, comedic self. Puti is a non-starter here. There's no storyline for Puti.. he's wasted in the scripts. Both forced to participate in tired, clichéd, ridiculous, plots. I mean a fat, long-haired, disrespectful, insubordinate, private in the Army.... does ANYONE on staff for this show have ANY relationship with reality??? It may be overlooked if it was funny. But it absolutely is not.
I'm uncertain why, but it seems ANY sitcom based on the military has not risen even to the level of mediocrity. At least not since M*A*S*H. There have been some decent military-based dramas.. but sitcoms seem to always be .. well.. bombs. This show is no different: a true bomb in every way possible.
I don't care how true to Dutch culture this show may or may not be. I suspect if it was actually funny, it wouldn't be as frightening to the reviewers who apparently do care about that aspect. If you aren't laughing, you notice all the continuity errors, because the scripts for this show aren't very entertaining.
If this series survives past the first season.. someone must be on drugs. Frankly, I'm surprised it was ever green lit.

I thought this was a decent crime drama/action flick.
The plot isn't anything real deep and thought-provoking, but it moves along at a good pace. Just a bunch of bad guys being bad guys... and one unsuspecting immigrant caught up in far more than he knows.
Starts unsuspectingly.. and then progresses...
This film is NOT a "story of immigrants". Sure, some of the main characters are undocumented migrants.. but there's no political undertone here. I mean there's an Australian in this as well.. yet no one whines about that.
Anyway.. well worth a watch for a crime drama, little to no "dead space" - it moves along steadily - and is fairly unpredictable.
Ignore the review whining about Tyrese.. he's got one of the smaller roles in this.
I can't help but think those leaving the negative reviews here watched the first 10 minutes and then posted a review.

It's been a loooooooong time since any "comedy" I've seen is actually funny. This was a refreshing watch.. a comedy that is actually funny at times. It's been years since Ive seen anything remotely similar.
Unlike most recent films, this film is NOT a drama being marketed as comedy because there's 1 scene that may be amusing half way through.. this is a comedy.. start to end... It's absurd, ludicrous, ridiculous.. and that's the point.
Stavros has always been a bit underrated in my opinion. He does a great job in this, as does everyone else. And seeing Joe Pera was a surprise (always thought Joe's voice was an act... maybe it's not since it's the same in this.)
The premise.. from the start.. is humorous.... and maintains the pacing....
The humor may not be to everyone's taste, but if it IS your taste.. you'll love this.
Worth a watch.
