It has been a while since I watch a movie that actually surprised me with plot directions that it took. Amber does a wonderful job of portraying a young woman trying to survive a situation that is far beyond anything she had prepared for. I approached this movie thinking I would see the same "gadgets" that the Predators have used in all the installments, and was pleasantly surprised that the "tech" was less evolved than what we have previously seen. And it makes sense since this is set 300 years ago, so the tech should be less advance.
Only two episodes in at this point, so it might improve, get worse, or stay the same with a little time. As of right now, all of the characters are a bit flat. There is nothing that pops out as bad about each character, but they just do not feel fleshed out so far. The story line of each episode has the protagonist dealing with the issues everyone that has been in recovery for substance abuse. Dealing with the consequences of their actions, the nagging desire to just give in, and the realization of having to live their life.
This movie was so bad I could not watch more than 30 minutes before turning it off. The acting was just horrible. Not just one, but the entire cast. The way they delivered lines was like someone trying to put emotion into the line, but it comes out as wooden or overacted. I know with movies there is some suspension of believe, but the amount of the plot that I sat through was just mind numbing. Save yourself a lot of pain and just avoid this movie. Your life will be better for it.
