Tatami (2023)
Filmed like a docu because the subject is completely realistic and true
I recommend viewers after the film to go to Wikipedia and read about the reality of the real life of the actress who wonderfully portrays the coach Amir Zar Ebrahimi, and also co-director with Guy Nativ in this film. It can be said that the judoka in the film tells the story of her own experiences after she was forced to flee Iran at the last minute to France, after the authorities wanted to imprison her for 6 years, 99 lashes, and a ban on working as an actress in the country, because of her alleged sex tape that was leaked to the net. The film accurately depicts reality The insanity of a country, which also pushes its sports into a corner through mental and physical pressure, as happened to the athlete who dared to compete without a head covering and "disappeared". The film is a message to the degenerate and hypocritical world of who Iran is since the Islamic revolution, what is the fate of women in the country and how at the end of the day They look to the side and do not help the women there.
L'impasse (2022)
Give up viewing
I am a big fan of French movies, especially crime movies, or thrillers. This movie is the worst I have ever seen. Looks like a student film. 2 screenwriters no less were required to rewrite the book for a TV movie? Boring. The chemistry between the actors is unbelievable, as is the acting. Even an actor or actress who surpassed themselves. The actions of the female police officer friend of the film's heroine were ridiculous, she seemed more like a policewoman impersonator. Towards the end of the film in 5-6 minutes, the investigations became clear, and the unconvincing puzzle was completed. It was a shame about one hour and thirty six minutes of my time.
Hummus Full Trailer (2022)
90 minutes of boredom, disappointment and a bad movie
Apart from the 2 actors Keren Mor and her husband in real life Menashe Noi, who are excellent, all the other actors some of them are very familiar with their games like first year acting students. The worst of all is Yaniv Beaton, who plays a gay man in a shrill and overacting performance. The script is not funny at all, stupid dialogues, even if you leave the movie theater in the middle, you won't lose anything. Trying to understand who the producer is that reads such a hollow script and is willing to bet his money on a film that he doubted whether he made the capital invested in it. Beyond shame for the Israeli film industry, where great directors work who have made great films that have won international recognition and awards.
Billy & Molly: An Otter Love Story (2024)
A wonderful, emotional and somewhat philosophical film
A mind craft of directing, underwater photography and a drone, in bright colors like Shetland has never seen before. Also the humans in the movie Billy and his wife, who are both also the narrators in the background of the events, with philosophical thoughts about life, love, the connection to the OTTER, Billy's devotion and tenderness, as that he never had children, heartwarming and heartbreaking in equal measure. This film deserves more nominations and exposure. Get the tissues ready. I personally empathized with Billy and his feeling of jealousy when Molly moved away from his grasp to hook up with a male OTTER. That's exactly how I felt with my cat, who disappeared for two days and broke my heart, until he came home.
Coup de chance (2023)
I would add another 15 minutes to the movie at the end
Of course, I'm not going to write a word about the end of the movie, but when I looked at my watch and saw that there were only 9 minutes left until the credits, I realized that even a genius like Woody Allen wouldn't be able to pull a rabbit out of the hat in this time less subtitles, and no surprising miracle would happen on the screen. In fact, when the situation in the film reaches the boiling point, after a long and tiring wait, it fades like the soap bubbles in the children's game. In this case the director cannot complain to anyone, because he also writes the script. I have no idea what Mr. Woody Allen's French language skills are, but things may have been lost in translation.
En helt vanlig familj (2023)
Great till episode 6
First of all congratulations to the outstanding unknown actress Alexandra Karlsson, this is her first film. I watched the series on Binge until the sixth episode, which in 49 minutes tries to overload the viewer with too much information, and as if it was written by a writer from outer space. I don't know the Swedish legal system, but if that's how they operate there In the reality of police investigations, but especially murder trials, the result is that it is actually easier to be a criminal in Sweden. The courtroom looks like a hall in the Palace of Versailles. A criminal trial and a legal decision that ends in less than an hour after witness testimony and summaries? How can you search for the truth like this? I know it's not a docu-film, but to know that's how they do it in court is ridiculous and outlandish. In the end, I was left with philosophical questions, what are the insights that the film is trying to convey to the viewer? What is the conclusion from the movie? Does it pay to lie and cheat? I won't write, but everyone will probably find the answer at the end of the movie.
Crime Diaries: The Celebrity Stylist (2023)
The most unnecessary movie ever
I finished watching this movie on Netflix and I asked myself what was the reason for the production of this movie, and why Netflix served us these cold noodles. After subtitles warning in the opening that the film is based on a true story, but what the viewer will see is all imagination, the business begins to unfold, and it becomes very clear that this is a crime, such as can be found in the crime section of any daily newspaper. What did the writer director find in this story something special, probably only he knows. There is no tension, no purpose, except for an investigator in trouble with herself and her strange relationship with her co-investigator, and with her superiors. In reality, she is not a police investigator. Disappointment and a waste of time, according to what is written in the closing credits, you can find out the end of the film that remains hanging in the air, in every newspaper in Colombia.
DNA do Crime (2023)
A series I watched on binge and enjoyed
Shooting a movie in Brazil in troubled neighborhoods is not an easy task, and the production did it big time. In certain sections and the street shots, it looks like a docu-film. The careful and invested production, including the chases, do not fall for any American film. The acting of all the actors is natural and reliable. The plot is fascinating, and I had a hard time understanding in which criticism here there are points of boredom? I watched all 8 episodes on binge and couldn't stop watching. Definitely a good Netflix police action series, and the low overall score as well as for excellent French/ European movies or series is due to ignorance and prejudice.
Les jeunes amants (2021)
A wonderful film but definitely not for a young audience who has no idea about love
I'm not French, but thank's God I'm also not an American who has to watch the boring love stories produced by Hollywood, where for years the screenwriters have not been able to come up with a unique script and have gone back to making insulting remakes of European films. This wonderful and heart-pounding French made film was written in collaboration with the French Icelandic screenwriter SOLVEIG ANSPACH, who passed away from breast cancer (ringing?) in 2015. At the end of the film, the subtitles honor her memory. And now that everything has been said about the background, it is definitely a gem. Delicate direction in close-up to catch the smallest expressions of the actors who all but all, and not only the main ones, play the characters magnificent. The soundtrack, some will say that it helps the tears to flow is perfect. And for those skeptics who wonder if such an impossible love is possible between a 45 year old man and a 71 year old woman then yes. Look around you, maybe it's rare, but it exists. Maybe some of them are the rich old woman's pursuit of money, but some of them are pure love, sometimes tragic like in this movie.
The State vs. Pablo Ibar (2020)
A documentary or public relations for a convicted defendant ?
I spent 6 hours of my life watching not a documentary but a boring story that is too long, PR for a defendant in the shocking murder of 3 civilians during a robbery, which the Basque Country residents contributed to its production and funding for their countrymen. In another incident, after committing a brutal robbery that only luckily ended due to the arrival of the police without killing the victims. Pablo Ibar was revealed to viewers that he is not a pleasant family man and a good person, but a cruel psychopath. Therefore the film did not renew anything in the face of thousands of other similar cases, apart from another glimpse into the U. S. jury system, where the defendant was not really tried on the evidence but how many tears will be shed on the fate of the defendant's childhood and the play that the defense attorneys will prepare for them.
