Wow, who would've thought Joel Schumacher could make a serious movie?? Kudos to him, this was quite something. Colin Farrell performed very well as always as well as Kiefer Sutherland, who made a great creepy character over the phone with his voice. The tension built and built throughout the film and the great thing about this movie is it's simple, quick, easy to understand, and doesn't waste much time! What a way to show how this time-period worked too (with phone booths just about to turn obsolete and to be replaced by the common use of flips phones, a subtle commentary on the shift in our culture and how we rely on communicating with others via technology). I enjoyed this movie, kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time!
I didn't like how they ended it at the very end. They should've just given the movie and the plot good closure after zooming out from the forest in the second to last scene. But no, they had to do an MCU-like extra tag on thing at the end that made much of the movie's 3rd act for nothing.
However, I must say I typically like movies like these and I felt on edge the whole time. Megan Fox was hot as all get out and actually acted very impressively as an A. I. entity. Over the years her acting has gotten better! There were some very suspenseful scenes during which made it hard for me to breathe, which means the film did what it was supposed to do! I'm glad I watched it, it was messed up and creepy and I like that!
