eldondhancock's rating
Look at how many reviewers give a rating of 1 or 2 stars. There are also a few reviewers who give 9 or 10. Are those plants by the producers to pump up the show? When producers created this episode, how did they know one person always leads out and another trails way behind the group? Obviously, the show is scripted. There will never be a reality show that is less reality. Who buys the story that they can still make it to the top in 14 days when, after 1 day, they are a day behind? How can they make it up. It took 8 days to reach the halfway point. That means it requires 6 days to do the second half which is said to be much tougher than the first half. I don't buy any of it. If I could give zero stars, I would. I love the scenery. What a beautiful place it would be to do a real reality show about the challenge of a climb in these incredible mountains. I would love that.
This show reeks of scripting, staging, and phony reality. We don't watch most of the reality shows because of the phoniness. I fully expect that this show will ultimately make the re-occurring articles about phony shows like Dancing With the Stars, all the Bachelor/Bachelorette, and dozens of others.
The characters are not believable. Dennis was likely paid to be conniving. Beckylee is an impressive athlete, but her back-stabbing persona is not believable. Bo and some of the other heavy, out-of-shape contestants surely were much less able to compete. Does anyone believe that they literally had no food for nearly 36 hours? I do believe that there are many friendships that formed, but I do not believe that there wasn't more monetary compensation for what they did in their acting jobs. I like the characters for entertainment, but I don't buy much of anything else. I don't believe for a minute that they would vote out those who help the group reach their daily targets, unless the voting is all scripted. I don't believe the alliances, either. I anxiously wait for the agreements to expire so that the contestants can talk freely.

Story is boring and not believable. The romance between the two main characters didn't seem to be genuine. They went to dinner and then to bed, and I think they walked on a beach once. Didn't anyone else notice that Emily Blunt is not a dancer, let alone a national acclaimed star? She was a poor choice for the part. At least get a dancer. Matt Damon seemed obsessed with Emily, but we were not given any reason for him to even like her. It's not like they dated for months and she dumped him. I didn't really enjoy the story. The Bureau seemed shallow and lame. The story could have been told much better. To each his own, but this was not a good movie in my view.
