Though there is a little slo-mo overkill, the camera work, lighting, and score are provocative. The visuals evoke that "What does it all mean?" feel, heightened by the slo mo use. Some scenes worked in slo-mo and feels planned in the shoot speed. Other slo-mo scenes felt manipulated in post-production and weren't as pure and smooth. The piece has a nice visual poetry to it and promises to be an interesting and haunting story narrative. The casting is average but works well with a pitch trailer or sizzle reel. I think the music and sound effects work well, especially, filling in for the lack of dialogue.
This powerful track is an epic journey that has a surprising ending. The lyrics are topical and profound, and the musicianship and vocals are top notch. The song as well as the album it serves as the title track for, features lead guitarist extraordinaire, the late David Maynard who passed away unexpectedly the year after the album's release. This brilliant, Brit-inspired song has Irish singer/songwriter, Chip Miller on vocals and guitar, harmonica, percussion, and vocal effects. Tom Carroll plays bass and does background vocals. Howie Fields is on drums. Professor John Slack is on keyboards, flute, and melloton. Janaki Jennings provides additional guitar, mandolin, and vocals. The song was written by Miller when he lived in the UK, and he first recorded it as an acoustic number for his folk duo at the time at Feltwell Recording Studio in Cambridge, England. Old Sand Mill rebooted and re-recorded the track in 2017 for their 2018 album release of the same title, "The World is Getting Colder."
