I'm writing this in February 2021, for posterity I guess - my husband and I both felt Kelli Giddish was a great choice to play the lead in "Chase" - we watched it when it aired, looked forward to it and never understood why it was not picked up for more episodes.
A Law & Order SVU marathon was running this 2021 Presidents' Day weekend, some featuring the more recent episodes with Ms. Giddish in the role of the passionate and competent but baggage-carrying "Rollins" character, we thought back to "Chase" and how powerful Ms. Giddish was as the lead in this show. Checking it on IMDB, I had not realized the male lead in "Chase" was played by Cole Hauser (currently a fan favorite in "Yellowstone" as the tough-as-nails and loyal-to-the-end character of "Rip").
I usually grab my remote to change channels ASAP when I see model-esque females cast in powerful action roles due to my inability to suspend disbelief (some CSI episodes come to mind) as I prefer to enjoy the plot-at-hand.
However, despite her good looks, we felt Ms. Giddish brought some gravitas/grit to "Chase" that made it quite watch-worthy.
Occasionally when I see Ms. Giddish in Law & Order SVU, though I admire her ability to play the "Rollins" role to which she has been assigned and am glad for her to have been chosen for a coveted role in that iconic and long-lasting franchise,I think it's unfortunate that we did not get to see her be able to flourish as the powerful character she played in "Chase," and the show's cancellation also put an end to the interesting and informative plots involving Texas Rangers.
Ms. Kiddish appeared to be more than powerful and competent enough to play lead in this well-written, well-directed, and well-cast show; its cancellation appears to have been related more to "connections" than quality.
Enjoy watching what episodes may be available to you.
