This is an interesting movie to say the least. The camera doesn't move for the entire movie, and shows what happened on a single house plot over thousands of years, focusing on a handful of stories. It's neat to think about.
And that's about the nicest thing I can say about it. The stories are jumbled and too bitesized to actually get emotionally invested in each scene. And just as something mildly interesting happens, we cut over to a different family and have to context switch our brains. In my opinion, it doesn't work well and keeps us at arms length.
It feels like it was going for nostalgia. People perhaps reflecting on their own home, or their parents, its history, etc. And it does to an extent make you do that, but that doesn't make a good movie.
Acting is fine. Story is mediocre but good enough. More than anything, this feels like a showoff of set design and attempts at making old actors look young, with varying success.

This movie was a huge letdown. With Ferrell and Witherspoon, I was hoping it would be funny, or at least well acted, but unfortunately it was neither. The dialogue is so awkward it's reminiscent of watching a bad school play.
Actually, all of the writing in this film belongs in the trash. Every character is a caricature of an annoying person. I don't understand how one can write and produce a comedy film that's completely devoid of laughs. Even slapstick would have been mildly amusing compared to whatever this is.
I'm not sure what this movie set out to accomplish, but all it accomplished was wasting my time and feeling annoyed with Gen Z if they are anything like this movie portrays.

Let's be honest, this is a silly low budget action that never takes itself seriously. And while a plethora of these films exist, this one stands far above the others in its execution and result.
It's absolutely hilarious. About half the comedy is slapstick, the rest a bit self degrading, a bit outrageous, it all just works. It's beyond farcical for most of the runtime, but keeps you watching anyways. Yes, you'll groan a lot, but you'll find yourself keep watching anyways.
The acting is excellent for a film of this nature. Jai White shines brighter than usual due to him having to not take himself seriously as he does in previous pure action roles. You'll recognize the rest of the cast from something you've seen before, notably Billy Zane as an humorous antagonist.
It's short, entertaining, and to the point. I wish we saw a lot more movies of this type - they're far more entertaining than a lot of the stuff coming out today, especially from streaming services.
