Good Morning Australia (1993–2012)

I agree, GMA was a great show!
22 June 2007
Its funny to see that no-one has entered this message thread or the website since 2002! So I thought I would expand on it a little bit and keep up the communication thread.

I watched an old clip of GMA hosted by Gordon Elliot and Kerri-Ann Kennerly in 1982 via YouTube. It was a sight to see after 25 years! The opening shows locations of each State Capital e.g. Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne etc. The High Rises were minimal then, some staying the same. Kerri looks extremely young, you almost forget that she was in this show originally. As you remember her now in the morning show. So in 1982, I was only 6 then, and my Nan used to watch the show religiously as it was the first morning show for Australia. With all others that have followed today e.g. Sunrise, Today Show, Mornings etc.

So in the early 1990's, Bert came on the show. And I remember watching it a lot in 1995, when Belvedere, Collette Mann (Doreen from Prisoner), Bert as the host was absolutely popular!! I remember it was. Its ratings started to decline in the early 2000's and I think people didn't watch it as much because it became the same old record. I still watched it from time to time. In 2004 - 2005, you saw an older Belvedere, Myra came on board, cast were ageing and the thing that frustrated me the most is the frequent sales pitch of 'Buyers World'! It was stretched and that's all the show seemed to advertise. It became stale. I knew GMA had a lot more potential than that.

So overall, I loved both the early GMA and of course Bert Newton and his crew hosting GMA in the later years. Bert is a funny man and is Australian TV Personality. I agree at least Bert should have been nominated or granted a Logie award for this. It is such a shame that GMA declined and was axed in 2005 because there was no more flavour, juicy interview topics or variety any-more. Hopefully some-day they may bring GMA out as a series on DVD highlighting some of the funniest / best episodes during the show's lifetime.

Good on you Bert! Cheers.

Undertow (1996 TV Movie)

Didn't mind it
12 January 2007
I watched this film on Cable TV at the Sunshine Coast when my partner and I were on holidays last week. It was in the apartments we were staying at.

Overall, I love Lou Diamond Phillips and Mia Sara any-ways. Also Charles Dance, I have seen him in Alien 3 and other films..

I thought the producer / director were budget smart in making the film. Only picking 3 actors and having them on the credits (only) is somewhat clever. Plus 1 house, weapons and simplistic costumes and props.

I thought it was pretty good. As it had some suspenseful moments. Plus it focused on observational behaviour. Like what is coming next? What do we do next in this house! The camera and acting made it feel to the audience that "what would you do in a situation like this?" Be smart, and smarter...

I thought there were some techniques used in the cameras and scenes where they were quite labouring, just to give the viewer an idea or thought of what the actors were doing next. I think with some movies I have watched in the past, are similar to some styles portrayed from veteran film-makers. At least I think they tried to.

Overall 6 out of 10.

Cheers

Thought -provoking content and sexy - worthwhile film
11 January 2007
Hi All, I first rented this movie from Video Ezy, Australia in 1998. The first time I played this - I loved it. I was and am not worried whether it was a B grade film or thought about the level of quality the movie provided. I initially rented it out as YES it had some soft porn content as envisaged when reading about the storyline and also it intrigued me.

I watched it several times during the rental of the film, and then over time I taped it when it came through cable TV. I had this recorded for me as a surprise gift (that is how much I liked it) through my partner. Which obviously we watched together the first time round.

I watched it again tonight (believe it or not) after a few years because I watched another movie of similar nature and I felt like watching it again.

The things I liked about this movie was: firstly the hot and sultry actresses. Certainly gave off some steam! Such as Lisa Boyle as first interest and certainly Shauna O'Brien. They oozed sexual appeal. Griffin Drew was there as well but my focus / attention was mainly set on Lisa & Shauna.

My observations and favourite parts of the film were: the sex scene between Montana (Lisa Boyle) and Billy (Begue Georges). He was the french male with the muscles near the beginning of the film. I thought this scene was raunchy....individual likings as I see it.

Although,I thought Montana portrayed a promiscuous teenager - namely at the age of 27 (in real age). She learnt eventually through being taught some simple life values when growing up as an adult.

Then secondly, not the bathtub scene so much although I like watching girl to girl scenes, but mostly the montage' which Josh did of Elke (Shauna) with the rendition of "Slave to Love" by Bryan Ferry. In their terms was titled "So Sexual" with the background music of Slave To Love. I wonder what turns me on about this scene, as I see it....

It was definitely Shauna's beauty, her confidence oozed throughout the clip, and the white bikinis comforting her gorgeous tanned and well-looked after body. They looked good together. I thought it was sensational that piece in the film. I liked the way it was put together. I usually rewind it a few times when it comes to that scene. And did tonight. So they are the most favourite parts of the film I liked in a sensual sense.

Overall, I also thought the talks between the Dad (Jeff) and Montana (Lisa B) were worthwhile and good to listen for valuable advice. It was how the actors portrayed the words in the scenes, which I thought were quite convincing.

Lastly, of course, Elke was great with her wisdom, positive and objective advice she bought towards the family. The seduction and sex scenes with the family were an added bonus and were meant to send a message to the viewer in a more pragmatic light.

I overall think that Elke (the title as I know it) is a good film to watch without too much to take in, easy to understand and easy on the eye. Not much of a plot but I suppose a "feel-good film" in an angelic sense. At the end, the story as it was written - achieved some positive results.

Thanks for your time,
