OK Im just gonna say it...Its better ... the first Halloween was slow paced and spent a good majority of the picture with people watching television, standing around talking about their dates, and using phrases that were corny, and nobody used, even at the time ...(e.i. "utterly fantastic" "This is going nowhere") It also spent a great deal of time depicting the trio of teens doing a bunch of other hum-drum activities that had nothing to do with the plot. IT WAS BORING. IT NEEDED REMADE. Rob Zombies version was more brutal, better executed, had more realism, even the nudity was better (Danielle Harris is a babe), and I might add, it spent more time addressing the initial plot, I usually don't even like remakes, but this is the BEST Halloween ever. DEAL WITH IT!
This movie has everything you could want. mystery, adventure, action, romance, drama, a kick-arse soundtrack and more. It'll make you laugh, cry, and cheer for more. I wish there was more movies like this on he market. Id recommend this movie to anyone. the heros, the villains, and victims alike are portrayed perfectly in this movie. It truly rocked, and didn't miss a beat I don't like to throw spoilers into a comment, so to sum it up. This is the only movie I've ever seen that was so good I'd actually considered getting the title tattooed on me. If you haven't seen it ...see it. If you have seen it ...see it again. Brandon Lee's greatest triumph...R.I.P.
Without giving anything away...the acting blows, the special effects blow, and its a total rip off of night of the living dead. Its bad enough it was shot in DV... (I wouldn't hold that against them though, I try not to judge based on the budget) but they don't make up for the lack of budget with content. I would, however, highly recommend this movie to film student, for inspiration, because if anything this bad can make it to a video store shelf, there's hope for anyone!!! I am sorry to hear that one of the people that worked on it died post-production, but that really doesn't help the quality of the film. In closing I would like to point out that if you made the same mistake I did and purchased the DVD before you saw it, that DVD's make great frisbees!
