The scariest part of the film "When the Devil Lurks" is its ending. This is the issue that every horror film ends with the failure of the good side of the story and the escape of the horror agent, a fear that exists in the world of cinema. This issue has both an economic reason that makes the story continue in the next parts and a reason that brings back the view of the horror genre filmmakers. They believe that I can never completely defeat shame and that no light stays on forever. But the bright point at the end of the film "When the Devil Lurks" is not like that at all; the law has triumphed and has crushed the good so much that I can neither continue the story nor can I imagine any kind of salvation for the characters in the story. They are hard to live in the world forever with a scar on their foreheads.
"Meet the Magician" has no cinematic or artistic value at all. It is not even worth criticizing. Here are just a few points to make about it: not every film that makes its audience laugh at any cost is necessarily a comedy. Perhaps you can laugh much more by scrolling through reels and Instagram posts. Of course, thanks to these social networks, the audience's taste has been lowered to such an extent that they easily laugh at any casual and superficial joke; jokes that are mostly sexual and repetitive, which, if they are not sexual, either maneuver on indirect references to old and threadbare criticisms (such as jokes about pre-revolution singers and the music of Los Angeles that seems to have no end) or jokes and sarcasm about officials, which are also lame and repetitive. Iranian cinema, Iranian "comedy" cinema, today is a collection of these same jokes, even the actors are repetitive. They are a series of actors that you see everywhere. Of course, this may not be specifically true of "Meet the Magician," but the general formula here is the same.
Vicky Cristina Barcelona is a profound film that, like Woody Allen's iconic works, carries a bitter and meticulous humor. The film is essentially full of experience. Experiences that Allen has imagined in his mind. He walked to the end and then retraced the entire path to describe it.
Finally, Vicky Cristina Barcelona can be considered, like all of Woody Allen's works, a serious work with a humorous theme. Humor that is not meant to make you laugh. Humor that asks questions. Deep questions that point to the instinctive philosophy of man. How meaningless and meaningful everything is.
Vicky Cristina Barcelona is not only not boring, but also a warm film with tangible and acceptable characters that hide a sadness in itself.
