The sibling rivalry resonates. The family dynamics are believable even though the setting is surreal. Well written and well casted. However, I really would have liked to see a bit more attention to practical details: for example, Anthony should have rolled the "paper" (watch to the end to see where this "paper" cleverly fits) into the old typewriter before he started typing. But maybe this was an intentional omission to set the dreamlike / surreal tone. I enjoyed this little piece and I think it bears watching again. Because the film is so short, these comments must be short as well, but without this additional superfluous line of text, this comment would be too short to meet the 10 line minimum. Maybe it still is. Watch "human kazoo" and make up your own mind. And let us know if you find anything close to a kazoo in the movie.
This animated short uses its animation style to express human situations that would be immediately accessible, even if you didn't know English. The excerpts of Ryan Larkin's work "Walking" (titled in the original French as "En Marchant" 1969) give you a glimpse of the genius of this man. Chris' street characters near the end are hauntingly familiar. Is that a fat Michael Richards I see? Well done, Chris, et al. I first saw this on CBC's ZED and it will likely get more play there, probably on their request program on "Feedback Friday" nights. Zed classifies this film as both Experimental and Educational genres. You can see an overview on their web site.
