I slowly rose from my seat, my mind buzzing, tears dried, and popcorn grease remnants on my sweater, stepping out of the petite and unusually narrow theater where we experienced Dan Levy's first feature film, 'Good Grief.' The film lingered in my thoughts throughout the night.
After dropping off my friend, I turned on the heated seat and drove in silence until I reached my driveway.
Grief, isn't it a peculiar thing? It evokes a range of emotions-anger, loss, frustration-all wrapped in a complex tapestry. It often hides its true nature, making it challenging to pinpoint the genuine source.
All I could dwell upon was the profoundly exquisite nature of life. Death, tragedy, laughter, community, and even destiny-life encompasses it all. An intense dialogue among the actors revolved around whether stating, "life is hard, we are all messed up," was a mere "cop-out" from personal growth and moving forward. It prompted reflections on those moments in life when the people you cherish the most betray, let you down, or shatter your heart.
The truth is, we are all flawed, navigating the journey of survival day by day. Cherish your friends, your family, your loved ones-they may break your heart, but they also possess the power to mend it.

I have nothing but good things to say about this series. And in fact I hope we get a continuation with another season. Hillary and Chelsea are so vulnerable, inspirational, and warm in this incredibly eye-opening and moving series. Hillary opens up in Waze I've never seen her before. Chelsea proves herself to be an incredibly powerful and important figure in culture. I really love the fact that they included Symone, as there are so many different versions of GUTSY women. My favorite were some of the unknown storytellers and heroes as their stories were inspiring and different than anything out there. What Hillary and Chelsea managed to do in this series was allow the world to understand the power and beauty and being a gutsy woman. I wanted more.
First off, Cherry and Vera are fantastic in this. After the pandemic, watching this story gives me chills. Such a good story to be told. Highly recommend.
