The Marvels (2023)
Meh
Its definitely a movie. I was entertained for a while watching this, it has some cool scenes and moments but overall after like some time after watching it I feel kinda empty, I abrely remember a thing from this. I guess it works if you want to have something to look at for a couple of times while you work or do your homework but asides from that, if it isnt your first watch, youre gonna be bored. Some god things this movie did was to make Captain and Ms Marvel not as bad as they were in the movie and series respectively, now I think they have a little potential if they get better writting and the addition of more cats, that was the best part of the film, I was much more excited every time a cat was on screen, specially because theyre baby cats, I just love cats.
I hope the cats return and eat Kang.
Napoleon (2023)
Should have been named Josefine instead of Napoleon
This was one of my most expected movies of the year, I really like history and Im specially fascinated by the story of Napoleon, so I was very excited for this. I kinda doubted Phoenix was a good choice for napoleon, given that napoleon accomplished all he is remembered for at a very young age but I accepted it and thought it was to have just a good actor, but not even that was achieved with this movie. I can say, I HATE this movie, it portrays Napoleon as a stupid horny teen, all the movie is you watching Napoleon lust over his first wife Josefine, thats all. The only battle you see is the battle of Waterloo, his very last battle before being exiled. But before that nothing, you barely see any of his doing in Europe, theres no politics, no battles, no war, no side characters, no historical events, you only see his relationship, which sucks and has nothing to do with how anything happened in real life. It looks as if the director just read half of the article in wikipedio where it talks about Napoleon and his first wife and forgot to read the rest. This movie enfurates me and I hope no one actually thinks this is how napoleon actually was, because this is more like a cartoon of the man himself.
Five Nights at Freddy's (2023)
The definition of a movie made for fans
As the title says, this movie is the perfect example of a movie made for fans, that doesnt make it bad, but it kinda is. The story is made as a resume of a very big part of the games original story, but it delivers it so fast and without a real meaning that it doesnt work at all. This along with the fact that they also add a lot of new stuff, like the drawings that control the animatronics, the visions of the older brother, the aunt and her story, those things take away focus that is needed in the main story, explaing the mistery that this whole pizzeria has, they just present you with elements from the games but dont dive into them, they essentially just work as references. With tthat said, as a fan of the games, I did enjoy and understood much better everything the movie was trying to day, but to someone who doesnt know a thing about the saga, its gonna be a bad and boring movie.
Blue Beetle (2023)
Its simple but I expected that
Its everything you would expect from an origin story, it feels kinda formulaic at times and not all the jokes land but at the end of the day, I went to watch this with all my family and we had a good time, we did laugh at some of the jokes, we enjoyed the story and liked some of the action scenes. Its definitely not the type of movie you will remember after a month but it delivers at entertaining you for an hour. So while I expected just a little more out of this movie, I dont feel dissapointed at all. I still have hopes for the DCU and this movie I think probes that they can still give enjoyable little fun stories out there, they just need to make them better with more time and planning.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023)
Amazing animation, meh story
The animation in this movie is just amazing, the aesthetic this movie has is just spectacular, at times it looks like how a kid would make a drawing but in a good way, really this is a truly win for animation...but the story is not as good as the animation, it lacks something. For starters the personalities of the turtles are okay, I dont have a problem with them being actual teenagers but I do feel some rejection to these new personalities given that Im really used to their more young adult vibes but still, I think its a fine change, my problem sometimes comes with the humor; I dont know if Im just too old but not even a joke landed for me, I was never laughing at anything I just felt that it was too childish for me to enjoy, and I was a little entertained so I went through it but I always felt I could be more happy watching this movie. Also the story is just meh, its okay. Its very simple, the turtles find more mutants but theyre bad so they have to stop them, this while fighting theyre wish to become accepted as humans, its fine, I hope it gets better with the sequel and with Shredder. Just dont change the animation, it was gorgeous.
Barbie (2023)
Fun enough to like it but easily to hate for its message
: I feel confused about this movie, probably like a lot of people, on one hand I laughed as I hadnt with a movie in a long time and the vibe this movie has is just very appealing, but on the other hand while not being an anti-men movie and actually trying to have a deep message, it feels at some parts like a tantrum. The way it handles its feminist message is not the best, because while it tries to give a meaningful speach, it almost boarders with hate speach and ridiculization, I say almost, because a lot of this situations are just played by the laughs and when theyre not, while being bad, theyre not terrible. But this makes it sound like a bad movie, which barbie is not, at the end it manages to actually give a meaningfull speech about the wrong in the real world and takes some minutes to understand both sides. It is still not the best ending possible because it can be a little too ridiculous, when you have a movie thats like that all the time I dont think it matters all that much. And at the end of the day I took home with me the minutes of laughter this movie gave to me, an enjoying fun time that is worth watching.
Secret Invasion (2023)
Impressive way to ruin an awesome storyline
Its really boring, this series had me almost sleeping while watching it, even though the episodes were mostly 30 minutes, I was always looking at my phone, thinking what I was going to watch next or what I could be watching instead of this. It takes one of the best stories in Marvel Comics, a story that very easily could have been a whole phase or even saga, and makes it into an excuse so that Nick Fury has a Disney Plus show. The beginning feels interesting and that the story might go somewhere in its first episode but after that, it just goes downhill, theres no tension, besides Nick Fury, theres no one else you want to see unharmed, the villain could be good but despite a good motive, it ends up being disappointing with its final plan. The geopolitical and spy stuff is fine, but just having little of both and not very significant. AGHHHH it was just so boring, I wanted to like this show, but it was really bad and I dont think I could watch it ever again even with my love for the MCU.
Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken (2023)
I wanted to see more of Chelsea
As the title says, the reason I went to see the movie was Chelsea, I really liked her design and I was interesting in what role she was going to have in the story. But later on I became a little more interested in the movie, thinking that it was made by dreamworks and that this kind of movies (of characters that try to fin their place in the world) are it specialty so I also gave it a try for the story and all I can say is. It was entertaining. Its a simple story that goes straight to the point, I feels its alwasy at 100% energy and I liked that, its not long so there are no scenes that make you feel youre losing youre time so thats a plus. But I was hoping it was a bit funnier, it has some good jokes, but most of them didnt land for me and I dont feel identified with this generation trauma kind of story so I dont think i enjoyed it as much as I could. The animation is good, I like the type that allows characters to have exagerated movements and all but it wasnt very surprising, it was just good. And thats practically the same I can say for the whole movie, I wasnt expecting a lot but it managed to entertain me for all its runtime, I dont think it a modern dreamworks classic and I think it could have been funnier but being as it is, it was fun.
The Flash (2023)
It delivered but I was still a little dissapointed
I liked this movie, I think it has some really great moments, the story is not bad at all, the action scenes, while they could be better, they are good and entertaining. The characters are good and fun to watch and its overall a good entertaining movie, but its just that. This movie had to be the next great superhero movie, it was even supposed to end DCs bad streak on movies, but it couldnt, it was too much job for this movie and I know that my expectations shouldnt affect my opinion on the movie but I really did believe this was an announced masterpiece, with all the marketing and confidence WB has in the Flash it truly got my expectations up.
But forgetting that this movie still has good and bad things, some of the good things as I said, were mainly the story and most of the characters. The story is very entertaining to watch and the main problem that causes all this is very touching. Just Flash wanting to save his mom, it could have been better if we saw more of this Flash to like him more but as it is, its okay. The characters are also its strong point, Batman and Supergirl steal all the scenes they are in, Ben Affleck gives us one last action scene and Keaton is both epic and funny all the time, Supergirl was also the best part, she is the main thing that makes this movie feel like an Elseworld and that something very relevant has changed and given that we havent seen Superman in a long while, seeing her is amazing, I even wish we got to see more of her because she is actually in just like 15 minutes of the whole film. But while I enjoyed all those thing I also didnt like quite a lot.
Mainly, the jokes and humor, I get that Flash is a lighthearded character that jokes around a lot, but in this movie it just go on my nerves, I think it has to be the fact that Ezra Miller is playing him, I dont care what he has done in real life, even in ZS Justice League I didnt really liked him in the role, I dont think hes that great of an actor and he gives me weirdo vibes and that also transaltes with the younger barry, he is super annoying and never shuts up, he barely has any funny lines and the way he turns evil at the end is actually laughable. And another of its biggest proiblems this movie has, the CGI, what happened, DCs CGI has always had problems sure, but almost all specil effects in this one look bad or weird, form how Flash runs, to the time bubble, to some characters faces, some fights, practically everything I dont know hows that possible for a blockbuster film.
But even with those bad thing I liked this movie and enjoyed it and it makes me a little sad that it flopped, I was hoping people would give it a chance to know the character and see the good virtues of the movie, but sadly that isnt happning, right now, DC is in the worst place it could be, its next 2 films are already looking like failures and the only possible movie that can save this shared universe is the new Superman film, I really hope the year of absence DC is going to have in 2024 helps people to see more of this characters because if not. This moght be the end of a shared universe in DC.
PD On an unrelated note I want to talk about the cameo sequence; that was the biggest let won for me, I was just expecting too much. I know thats entirely my fault because there werent even rumours or anything big for the movie, I had made my mind that since in the latest years on TV there had been a lot of crossovers between a lot of dc franchises, the same would apply here so I want nut and expected a lot, It was nice seeing the Superman and Supergirl from the 70s, I liked Nicholas Cage as Superman in a cameo and the little references to Adam Wests batman but I was expecting ALL the different universes to show up, Im talking about characters from the Arrowverse, from Titans, Doom Patrol, Swamp Thing, Stargirl, Lois and Superman, Constantine, Sandman, all the Batmans. Watchmen, Krypton, Lucifer, Gotham, City Sirens and even maybe Cartoon cameos like the DCAU, teen titans, etc. It may sound stupid and I now realize it actually is, but the Arrowverse managed to have something like this in its crossover of crisis on infinite earths and if a TV network managed that, a mayor studio can make even more. It was stupid to think that but I just wanted to see more cameos on the cameo sequence. It doesnt affect the movie at all but it was a let down for me.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023)
At least is better than the Bay films
It lacks something, I dont know what it is but there is something missing that really downgrades this movie by a lot. Bumblebee was an amazing movie and I was hoping this one was very similar and in some parts it is but the emotion that movie had, isnt in this movie, there are some improvements like the action sequences, the fact that we can see more Transformers in this movie and that they have personalities and those things make the movie watchable and entertaining enough to not have a bad time but in 1 week youre going to forget almost everything that happened here. The story is very simple and straightforward and thats good, but at times it just feels like its too long or not a lot is happening. I dont think its a bad movie, if you have nothing else to watch and its passing on TV you can watch it, but I was expecting a little bit more.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
Amazing and Spetacular like no other movie
The first movie was a real revolution among animated films, mainly for the animaion ut also for the story, being complex, interesting and sometimes dark but still managing to be funny and for everyone, so I was also looking forward to this one but not thinking it could make another revolution on its own; now Im convinced it IS another revolution among animated films, the animation in this movie can only e summarized in the words amazing and spectacular, every frame of the movie could perfectly be a poster and a very good one, the way everything is animated is perfect, just perfect. They didnt only used all the naimation styles and techniques there are, but they went as far as inventing new ones just for this movie, you levae the theather with no words after the movie. With that said, the animation is obviously its strongest point but the story is another hit, it is almost just as good as the first one, buuuut, the one thing I find more weird than anything is the ending, I understand that it is divided in 2 parts and everything but it just made me feel empty, and not empty like when youre doing something you really like and then its over, more like just incomplete, I guess watching the 2nd part it will make more sense and be better and my 9 could potentially transform into a 10 but for now, only and for that feeling of incompliteness alone I give this a 9, but everything else in this movie is a 10.
Fast X (2023)
Eghghh, I dont know
I dont know how to feel about this movie, on one side I know I shouldnt take it seriously because it only wants to entertain you for a while and it kinda accomplishes that, but on the other hand, its just not that good of an action movie and even in comparison to its other films, it loses in almost every aspect. The few good things of this movie and the ones it shines in comparison to the other Fast movies, is in its villain, I personally still prefer the shaw brothers a villains, but Jason Momoa brings a different air to the saga and his interpretation is really funny, but this action movie definitely doesnt deliver on the action sequences, it tries to make them bigger and better but given the previous history of absurdity this movies have already gone through, they feel a little boring and not special. I had a little fun time watching it but I dont think I will be watching it ever again.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)
A great comeback and goodye from Marvel
This was exactly the movie that we needed, a fun superhero movie with a tone of heart and personality. This movie is the perfect way to say goodbye to the guardian ( at least to this first team) by having one of the most emotional stories in all Marvel. It is mainly because this movie is driven by the characters; there isnt an extremely overcomplicated plot and I dont think the galaxy is even in danger, its just an adventure of the guardians to save their friend and give him and some others closure in some way or another. I barely remembered how a good marvel movie was, but after watching this, I again have hope once again. The villain is also the best the team has ever had, its menacing and you hate him from the very first moment he appears, and if you ever had a pet, hes gonna break your heart into pieces. But there are little tiny things I didnt like, for once, I think it was just a little too long, there were times when I just felt like it was too much time for some scenes and stuff, then I think that this is the movie of the guardians with the least best jokes, having some weird moments where I didnt laugh, but they were just some times and my last complain is that at points they forget a little about other characters, everyone has their moments to shine and its amount of screentime making jokes but besides those few instances, they dont do much else. Still, the comeback Marvel needed, lets just hope the next movie doesnt make marvel be in the spot they were before this movie.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)
Pure fun for Nintendo fans
This movie is by no ways a leason on how to make a movie, the story is as simple as it can be, the characters are as flat as they can be without being bad, the humour is just fine, everything is just one step ahead of average, I can acknowledge that, but despite that, I cant help but fing this movie super fun. I had an amazing time watching it, I was practically smiling during the lenght of the movie, every reference I got, everytime I felt the vibe this movie has I was just enjoying it. Because if its average in almost all aspects, one thing it has as much as it can have is personality and I think its because of the mario franchise and nintendo. It still has kind of the same escense as the videogames, it has a simple story but thats not the point of it, its to make you have a good time and this movie accomplishes it without a dout. It has moments when you even want to jump from your seat and while not all the movie is like that and maybe on some rewatches it can lose some of its value, I will say, that it is the most entertaining and fun this movie could have been and I cant wait to see the sequel.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023)
Extremely better than I expected
I was kind of expecting this movie to suck, while the trailers were a little funny, the story didn't caught my attention. But I still give it a try and it was worth it. I didn't thought it was great but it was entertaining enough to please me. The story is not anything from other world, its a simple fantasy adventure where we have to gather a team and get to our common goal; Ive never played the game before but I know how it goes and it is exactly what I would expect from this game, which it isnt a bad thing, it just made me to want and pay the game. The characters have their won motivations to join the team and despite some of these motivations being forgotten and never talked about they work well for the movie. The thing that this movie does greatly are the action scenes and the intrigue it creates around this fantasy world, the fights are super entertaining to watch and unique in their own way, somehting which I wasnt expecting, and the world just looks super interesting, I guess its the normal thing considering all the lore the game has, but here it isnt overwhelming and makes you build interest in this lands. But as I say, it isn't as intriguin as Lord of the Rings or something like that, but it still does an amazing job at what it wants to: to make you have a good time and make you laugh.
John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)
A good and worthy finale
I was starting to get a bit tired from this franchise, despite me loving the third movie, on some rewatches, it felt like the only thing happening were action sequences, and they were still very impressive and memorable, its just that 2 and a half hours of that gets tiring at some point and I was a little afraid the same thing was going to happen here and on some degree it does, the action sequences are still very impressive and epic. But sometimes they last a little more than what they should, but this movie has much more story than its predecessors, now John Wick has more of an objective than just kill whoever tries to kill him, here, he really has a chance to be free again and with the help of other characters who also have better motivations in this one, he plans on getting it. Obviously the best thing of this movie are the fighting scenes, combined with their awesome cinematography, music and choreographys it makes for a great experience. I already talked about some some of them lasting a bit too much but that doesnt affect the film as much as it could have. And in this one, we have a more clear villain, who you hate from the first scene from which he appears, he is bad. Elegant and menacing, he is awesome. The side characters and new ones introduced are also very interesting and entertaining to watch, mainly Cain, who I hope gets a spin off or something. And all the movie is like this, the best quality of action a movie can have but stopping at the right times so it doesnt get tiring enough. And finally I want to say that the finale was the best it could have been for this saga, the tension depsite not being a fight is the greatest Ive ever felt watching these movies, you are genuinly terrified from whats about to happen, and you dont want to watch the outcome but you have to because its where everything gets defined. It is definitely, the WORTHY ENDING John Wick deserved.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023)
Unfortunately not as funny nor emotional as the first (but still entertaining)
I was really excited to see this movie, the first movie was one of the most fun and unique movies from DC and this one looked like it was going to be the same, I started to worry a little bit with the bad marketing it was having but I didnt care, as long as it was as good and as emotional as the first one, everything was going to be fine. But it wasn't as good as the original. It lacks the original charm it had and I think thats in part to the fact that the kids dont appear as much as in the first one or as much as their adult hero versions of them. The kids and their personalities were the base of the original and most importantly, the relationship between Billy and his lost mother, we have something similar here, with billy trying to be more controlative with his nw family, but it doesnt hit as hard as it should. Billy and Shazam are a little bit annoying at some points. The jokes he says arent as funny and dont always land, the ones that land are a blast, but more often than not, they just stay as a little laugh. The other members of the family basically have nothing to do other than to lose their powers despite having a lot more of potential. And freddy, is actually very annoying in this movie, while in the first one he was kinda the comedic relief and the one who always said the final funny line, they take that same concept here to a 1000% and kinda ruin it, making him say a joke on every conversation he has and it gets old really quickly, the villains are also very inferior to the last one. Dr Sivana really felt like a bad guy and a real threat. The new villains are okay, but just that, they have an interesting back story but it doesnt get a lot of focus and their interactions always feel like the same and despite being a much bigger threat to the city and the Shazam Family, you dont feel as invested as you were on the last movie. The special effects are good, the actins is also good, the phase is good, everything is good; but when the last movie was great, it feels like a massive drawback. With all this said, I want to say that I still enjoyed the film and I had a great time watching it and it deserves a lot more of attention because it is genuinly good considering the state of the superhero moveis these days, but it isnt enough, it needed to be much more and while Im not really dissapointed, I wished we got something more.
The Last of Us (2023)
Better than what everyone was expecting
Before this show, I still had my doubts with vedeogame adaptations, lately there have been good ones but none of them were great or trascendent, and I was expecting something similar to happen to this show, I thought that since the base story is really solid, they would try to not make a lot of changes and just be safe so that it wasn't a failure, but just after watching the first episode, I knew I was completly wrong and that the people behind the show, was going all in, in trying to make the best show they could make.
I have never played the game but I knew the story and how it went but it still managed to surprise me in almost evry way, the first episode started as good as it could have been. Im not ven sure how to describe this show, it just make me feel excited to see what came next, even I knew Joels daughter was going to die, I still wanted her to survive despite knowing her fate and just having watched for 1 episode, I quickly liked all the characters they introduced despite also knowing their fates, the storytelling, the special effects, the cinematography, everything is very well done, and despite it being almost a copy paste from the videogame on some scnees, it translates awesome on this new format, at the middle of the season it starts to take less and less risks and stops showing us less of what happened before the outbreak and just relies on the source material making it a little slower and a little bit more tedious but only a little, because once you start to watch the episode, you cant stop and it leaves you wanting more. A good show I really liked overall. I cant wait to see the second season and see how they adapt the story from the second game, considering how it was received. I just hope its as good as this first season.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022)
An awesome return to the Shrek franchise
Honestly, I wasn't expecting anything from this movie, I even hasn't expecting it thinking it would just be another sequel trying to live off the shrek franchise, it was so bad, that I even didn't bother to watch it on Cinemas when it released and it wasn't until weeks after it came out that people started to talk wonders about the film. I was shocked for this reaction but the good reviews and opinions just keep coming and coming and since it was already released on streaming I decided to watch it there and it was one of the most pleasant surprises Ive ever had. For starters, the animation is even better than what I was expecting, it felt so alive and unique in a very special way, the fighting scenes were some of my favourites because of this. All the characters are really good and funny, the one I liked the least was the dog, but only because I felt that the characters liked him a lot in very little time, but besides that, everyone has a good motivation, every interaction is super fun, energysing and interesting, the movie could have very well just been about the characters talking and i think I still would have had a good time. Among the chacaters The death and Jack Horner stnd out the most, one for being absolutely terrifying and the other one for being super fun, I would love to see both of them again. So, the story, animation, characters and everything works really well in this movie it would be a 10/10 if not for the fact that there was a certain pint in the movie were I felt it got a little slow, but just a little and the fact that the dog was kidnapped over and over again kinda annoyed me, but thats it. A practically perfect movie Ill watch as much as I do with Shrek 2.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
Not as bad as I expected but just OK
I went to see this movie expecting to see one of the worst MCU movies because of the critic reviews and other comments but after watching it I can confirm that most of them are over exagerated. Its still one of the weakest movies of the MCU but after, Love and Thunder, Ms Marvel and She Hulk, its not as bad as those, there ae quite a few things to like. Mainly, the villain, Kang. He absolutely steals the show and every scene he is in, you can feel he is an Avengers level threat and the actor gives his all to make it even better. Scott and some action scenes are also on te good side of the movie, they managed to be entertaining at all time and while these are just few moments, they are enough to save this film a little bit. Buuuuuut, there is also a lot of bad stuff. The quantum world is just boring. Thats just how it is. There is nothing interesting about it, we never know anything about the people living there, we never feel anything for this world, honestly, if it was destroyed or something, I wouldnt even miss it. The side characters are horrible, they do nothing, the Wasp is done so dirty in the movie, that there are times when you forget she even exists, its just at the end when she does something and its not that much. Hank and Janet are also there just to explain scientific things and look smart but besides that, they could very well be dead. And I hated the quantum people, their designs are mostly bad and their jokes are very cringy. The more I think about them, the more I want the quantum realm to be destroyed. Cassie is just there, acting bad, existing and doing absolutely nothing else. The story is just meh, Ant man stealing some stuff for Kang and the side characters trying to find him. Its just ok, but I would have prefered a story more like the first 2 movies, those felt more like ant man movies and had their own style and comedy, things which are mostly ruined in this one. I hope Marvel recovers and goes back into the light path because if they dont and they continue like this, theyre gonna have bad times ahead.
300 (2006)
One of the most epic movies ever!
This is one of the most unique movies ever. The way everythig is done, how it tells its story, the visuals, the action, all of that is done in an amazing way. While at the beginning I thought the movie looked a little bit ugly, having a very weird filter, later on I kinda understood this, because of some shots which use very well this same filter. The story is told is a legend type of way, it feels as if were watching the most epic battle in history, even the dialogues of te movie feel taken out directly out of a legend, all the dialogues are powerful, quotable, epic, and its awesome. With that said, there are some scenes which have another tone, mainly the ones with Leonidas wife, this scenes are mostly political and follow a B plot and dont manage to grave your attention the same way the story with Leonidas does and it gets a little boring at those parts but theyre ultimately very short and dont affect the movie at all basically. Ultimately, this is one of the most epic movier ever made, haveing a unique style, vibe, fight scenes, moments, aura, etc. Super epic.
Wednesday (2022)
Merlina steals the show
I saw the show expecting nothing just because it was from Netflix and I expected it to be just another random worthless teenage show from Netflix, only this time with the Addams family. I was very pleased when I watched the first episode and was instantly hooked. Mainly because of Merlina, she and the actress give a very special vibe and a very well interpretation of Wednesday. Her personality and her interactions are the best part of the show. There are some other interesting and entertaining characters like her best friend and some other students and despite most of them being whatever, this doesnt really affect the show overall. The mistery is interesting, and despite having some weird parts is manages to not lose you. Buuut, the weak part of the show are certain moments that dont have Wednesday and actually feel like a Netflix show, you know, moments of weird interactions between charcters, everyone being extremely horny, some people not thinking, people just fighting, etc. Still, it manages to keep you entertained and to make the Addams family interesting again. Hope to see whats next in store for the Addams.
Stargirl (2020)
One of the best DC shows
I was really surprised with how good this show turned out to be. At this point in time, all DC shows, mostly CW shows, were trash and this one seemed to have a lot of similarities with those ones. But I still watched it and Im glad I did. It feels like a perfect classic story of DC. The best of the show is by far, the characters, Stargirl, the entire JSA, all of the ISA, Courtney's family, all of them are the best. Watching them become superheroes and give their best is really cool and is done in a perfect way, they are almost the same from the comics and I love that. Season 1 is by far the best season, the way they introduce the characters and create the conflict is eprfect, I couldnt stop watching the show, and I binged it in like 2 days. The second season was a big downgrade, the characters were still good and the problems they had were interesting but at this point a lot of characters were starting to get introduced, making each character's screentime very little. The villain, Eclipso while good, it wasn't as good as the ISA and sometimes you even forget about him. But the biggest mistake in the second season was the finale, everything felt rushed, characters coming out of nowhere without any explanation and a bad ending for the villain. This second season was dissapointing, but only because the first one was perfect, so it was still good. The third season is the weakest one, because for most of the season instead of a main villain, we have a mistery plot, this sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. There are points in this season in which you feel that nothing has changed and you want something to happen, and while the characters get more development, its not a lot. It is until the last episodes in which things start making sense and are becoming interesting. Still a fine and entertaining season but not as good as the first one and more on pair with the second. It is a shame that this show was cancelled, ecause it was actually good and it felt like it had some more stories to tell. The finale felt very rushed but I prefer that over not getting a finale at all. All I can say is "It was good while it lasted"
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (2022)
A good excuse to see the Guardians again
It was fine. Im not sure what else there is to say, it was a fun special and a good excuse to see the guardians once again but despite having an interesting story and a good Christmas message, I could perfectly have lived without it. I wasn't hyped or anything for the special not even for having the guardians again, it just didn't feel as special as it should have. Kevin Bacon is maybe the best part of the special, the scenes in which he appears are really funny and enjoyable and Mantis and Drax scenes are also fun but I didnt feel that those 40 minutes of special where worth it. I wished they did something more bold or different to make it more special because this way it just feels like one of those specials from animated series that not a lot of people remembers.
Titans (2018)
Fun dumb entertainment
I have just watched this show until the 3rd season. So with that said, I have mixed feelings for this show, on one side I love all this characters and Im just happy to see them adapted in live action, but on the other hand, they are just so different from their OG version that they are practically different characters. The ebst example of this is Robin or later Nightwing, in the comics he is always the optimistic guy, the voice of reason, the guy that always helps people and is always smiling. He is completly different now, he is much more darker. At the beginning he didnt even wanted to help Raven and while its weird its kinda makes sense for the story, he is supposed to become nicer and on later seasons he is, not as nice as in the comics, but he is. The other characters have the same situations, they are darker and just keep a little of their og personalities of the comics, but they progressively get closer to those. The story is fine for the 3 season, but just that, fine. There are really good episodes sometimes and other times you just want to fall sleep, it also doesnt help that the cast is way too big; in the second season, its massive and we often have to ignore some plots in order to progress others, but losing a lot of time in othe rinteresting things; anothe problem is how often they try to introduce new characters and then forget about them, there are episodes in which Beast Boy or Super boy do nothing. Its way too crowded here, they should really get a smaller cast in order to flesh each one of them more. Another problem is that the show is sometimes trying to be edgy just for the sake of being edgy, not all episoes need to have blood, and while I normally like dark edgy stories, this is too much. And my final problem with the story is how some problems are just resolved in 1 episode. For example, in the first episode of the second season, they just get rid of Trigon in a couple of minutes; Trigon was supposed to be this evil bad guy that was unstoppable and they tried the entire first season to stop him from returning but then it seems so easy just to stop him. And this trend continues all the seasons, there are too many storylines, most of them end poorly, most characters get to do nothing and each episode were just jumping from new introduced character to new introduced character. With that said, I still enjoyed the show; as I said in the beginning I just really like the characters and despite their changes, I still love them and I just like to see them in action.
