Peaky Blinders: Lock and Key (2022)
Wonderful ending for a loved series
What a great finale. Although I love the series, I've felt like Season 6 just wasn't doing it for me. I really thought this episode was gonna be a mess, trying to conclude everything going on. While it didn't conclude everything, it was very-very well planned and executed with a small addition to the runtime. Acting, direction and photography were top notch and so was the sound editing. I was on the edge of my seat 2 or 3 times. A very fitting ending to a more 'mature' Peaky Blinders. Their rest is yet to come, though.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Really hard to follow
I practically found this movie a mess. New characters without any development. Original characters played by the original actors. Original characters played by new actors, with some hints of the original actors, just so we could identify them. Little to none stuff explained. Neo's and Trinity's resurrection were almost "Somehow, Palpatine has returned" level. It was just too much and too little at the same time...
The meta humor and the action was good, at least!
Man of God (2021)
A movie beyond just religion
A great iteration of St Nektarios' life. I found the movie enjoyable. The directing and cinematography were very good most of the time and so was the acting, which clearly lacked because of the non-native language spoken by most of the actors. What I almost didn't notice at first but grew on me during the runtime was the soundtrack. It really adds to many parts of the movie The plot, although simple and without an actual "target", kept me engaged from start to finish and made me think and realise things.
Definitely recommended.
Superman & Lois: Through the Valley of Death (2021)
Can't get enough of this series!
Seeing JHI in suit again was great and the fact that the writers didn't go down the evil Superman path is something different and keeps him as a beacon of hope we all know him to be. The acting was great and so was the character development. Can't wait to see what's next!
Mortal Kombat (2021)
A not-perfect but promising start
The movie was good enough, and pretty solid for MK fans that already know "what's going on" with the characters. The plot, although changed from what we were used to, was nice but rushed at times and a big part of the dialogues was cold/ "right to the point". It also felt like many parts of scenes where cut, in order to reduce the run-time which generated some continuity as well as character development issues. I was hesitant about the cast but that thought vanished midway. Choreography, cinematography, and CGI were *solid*. An overall pleasant (if you can stomach it) experience and an absolute must-watch for the fans! I hope we get some good sequels out of this!
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
A huge pay-off to the DC cinematic universe
With a plot that actually makes sense, has a very good flow and few to none forced parts, I find this a very pleasant movie to watch, even with a 4-hour runtime. All of the main characters matter and would have had an even bigger impact, had there been a dedicated movie to each one. Steppenwolf looks marvelous and all of his (and other villains'!) fights look incredible. The visual changes (or should I say "restorations") were a "must" for the overall tone of the movie and so was (the majority of) the CGI. I hope the "Snyder-Verse" actually continues, as this movie was more than promising.
