Superb
19 May 2001
This is another one of the movie that makes you feel good and touch your emotions deeply. The casts were truly wonderful especially Oscar nominated actor, Denzel Washington. Denzel Washington delivers a powerful charged performance as Coach Boone. The movie tackles the sensitive issue of racial sensitivity superbly! I never thought that all this while, even in 1970s, racial is still a sensitive issue. This movie is highly recommended.

Pleasent
11 April 2001
This movie makes me wonder about my life. It kept me going on thinking that those that are really poor might teach us some insight about their uphold values and expectations. With this movie, I realised, how sometimes I become forgotten to connect spiritually with God. Ali's family is poor but still they uphold the values of faith given by others to them. I began to appreciate what life offers at us.

The characters in this movie is well played. Every characters seem convincing enough. Oh, I could always feel Zohra and Ali's heart-wrenched feeling when the Zohra's shoes were gone. Their plan was almost successful but then, the shoes that Ali has is in poor condition. I could feel their gladness for even the shoes is in poor condition, they are still able to go to school with it.

I urge you all to go watch this movie (if you haven't done so)! It shall make you see life in different light.

Tom Hanks' show
13 March 2001
This one can be considered as Tom Hanks' one-man show. He excelled in conveying his emotions through his eyes' expressions and able to capture the audience in almost one hour(where he was stranded alone at the island). The ending might be too long and can be trim a bit. But then, what I like about the ending is because the reality of it. Tom Hanks should be awarded for his work in this movie. His performance is top notch, and he deserve an Oscar.

Intriguing, based on a true story
13 February 2001
Some of you might comment, "Who are the actors anyway?" Well, to tell you the truth, I only knew Emma Thompson while watching this movie. And unfortunately, I only saw it during second half of the movie. But, how it touched me deeply. I was moved, I was crying by the time this movie ended. How could anyone be so cruel, to punish innocent people and they were jailed for more than 10 years? The evidence was so flimsy based!

This is based on a true story which make it more intriguing. The UK judicial system shook to its core when the revelations about this innocent people come to the surface. The impact of the movie was also deepened when the hero's father died because of illness while serving his imprisonment(that's why I think they name this movie 'In the name of the Father'). Go watch this movie and you won't be disappointed. All the characters in here deserves Oscar nominations!

Not as quite what I had expected
8 February 2001
I was dying to see this movie as the United States people love this movie. Well,I had just saw it and it was not quite up to my expectation. From my Asian perspective, this movie just used the same formula that Hong Kong and China had used in their martial arts movies all this time. This movie is more slow paced compared to other martial arts movies dated back since 1980-s. Seriously said, I was born in a country where Cantonese, Mandarin, Hindi, Tamil, English and even Japanese movies are screen almost everyday in the television.I had seen a lot of movies that I don't think even arrive in the United States. Of course, one might say, the acting in this movie was superb, but , I just might say, I had seen much better than this. The movie just have some famous Hong Kong actors who had made their debut in Hollywood (Chow Yuen Fatt and Michelle Yeoh). I had seen a lot of Chinese movies, so I guess again, there's nothing new. Don't get me wrong, even people in Malaysia who had seen this movie are commenting the same thing.

Too good to be true
7 February 2001
This movie is too good to be true, but I still fall in love with it. Maybe because the chemistry between Richard Gere and Julia Roberts sizzles, or, may be I still live in fairy land :). The settings are wonderful and Richard Gere seems to be really rich. He can do anything that he likes, so he spend things quite lavishly. Julia Roberts plays her role well as a hooker who has conflicts with her job and her emotions.

With Love (1998– )
Lovely
6 February 2001
This TV series is lovely. Takenouchi Yutaka gave a convincing performance as Hasegawa Takashi,a person who doesn't believe in love. Tanaka Misato gave a real impression of Murakami Amane, a woman who is innocent and truly vulnerable. Even Oikawa Mitsuhiro gave such an impressive performance as Yoshida-san where we cannot help but feel disgusted with him, because he keeps pestering Amane. The TV series is only 12-hour long, so we don't have to wait for a long time for it to finish. Every episode ends bring more anxiety until the final episode concludes all. This is a must watch for those who believes that love still conquers all.

Two great superstars offers superb acting!
6 February 2001
Warning: Spoilers
This movie revolves around two main characters, Amitabh Bhachan and Shah Rukh Khan. Both are stubborn ,strong willed. One doesn't believe in love, but another believes that love conquer all. In this movie, Shah Rukh become a music teacher at Gurukul, one of the most pretigious college in India while Amitabh acts as the college principal. This movie is too lengthy because it focus on three young couples, but Shah Rukh and Amitabh is the saving grace for this movie. Both of them act superbly and was able to express their feelings which make the acting seem believable. The six newcomers; Shamita Sheety, Uday Chopra, Kim Sharma, Jugal Hansraj, Preeti Jhangiani and Jimmy Shergill, seem to need more coaching considering this is their first venture in Hindi movies. Preeti Jhangiani and Jimmy Shergill seems like the only couple who has a storyline to develop their 'relationship'. The others? Well, let just say that they tried hard but there seems no depth in their acting. There are also some scenes that are illogical, for example: the way Aishwarya Rai died (I believe Aish should only have bruises falling from 2 floors house!) and the leaf that Shah Rukh keeps even it had dated a few years before (The leaf should be crumpled, not as fresh as it still looks!) This movie is only for those who believe in reel life , not real life

Superb acting, touching story
6 February 2001
This movie is 3-hour long, but I don't feel any regret seeing it. The 3 hours was truly watchable. This movie tells about the relationships between Death Rows guards and prisoners. The movie conveys a look at prisoners who are going to be executed in electric chair, and how they view their coming death. Tom Hanks was superb in this movie (Is there anything that this man can't do? )Michael Clarke Duncan also acts superbly as a prisoner who is innocent and has miracle power. I cried when I was watching this movie, because I pity him too much! The movie might seems heavy to some and adults might appreciate this movie more than children.

Simple story
5 February 2001
Basically, this movie tells about Jennifer Lopez, who works as a wedding planner and begins to fall for the groom(Matthew McConaughey)in one of the wedding she is planning. This movie might not offer much, but it is light hearted and suitable for the whole family. This movie might appeals to women as a whole because it pays attention to details occur in a wedding preparation.

Awful film
2 February 2001
This film is awful in the sense that it is loosely based on 'While You Were Sleeping'. I was expecting more from this film, but was disappointed. In 'While You Were Sleeping', the relationship develop slowly and we fall in love with the characters, but here..it is a total waste up. Particularly, because Salman tried hard to acts funny, but he wasn't able to make quite an impression. There are just too many co-incidental events which makes the film illogical. Trust me, you shouldn't waste your money on this movie

Beautiful scenery, superb acting
2 February 2001
This movie is such an excellent germ. All this while, I didn't really understand it (as there's no subtitle, and I'm not a Hindi). But, when, it came out in television last year, I was mesmerised. The scenery was too beautiful to describe (even some people might call it too perfect, but then, you can see in this movie that the director was able to play with colours). I like the ending, the storyline. Yes, coming from a country where marriage is considered understanding and loving your spouse despite their faults, marriage is considered sacred and should be taken with careful steps. Reality check! I don't really expect Aish should be with Salman after she's married to Ajay in the movie. You cannot expect a person to divorce because he/she had found back their lover after marriage.

Well, last but not least, I admire Aishwarya Rai's acting in this movie. She was able to portray her emotions convincingly. Ajay was also superb...and Salman, well, I might just say, he always get typical role (He acts as if it is suppose funny, even though it is NOT funny)

Sweet
2 February 2001
The story line might be mushy to some :) I really like this movie as the setting is so simple, but, the story delivered excellently! This story seems to touch me, as Sandra Bullock is not cast in typical role (such as lawyers, or etc.) ,but someone who we can meet everyday.

The relationship between Lucy and Jack is shown, how it was developed slowly and become love to both of them. I was not attracted to watch this movie when it was first released in year 1995, but I had nothing to do, so I borrowed my friend's tape and I was stuck! The next day, I repeated watching the movie and last year I just bought the VCD version, and I think that I might be continuing watching it even though, I had watch it for more than 10 times!

The best romantic Hindi film ever!
2 February 2001
In this story, Simran and Raj are first shown as rivals and then, the relationship slowly developed into love. Shah Rukh became popularly known from this film and this film was shown at cinemas for 5 years! The film won 10 awards in Filmfare during its release. The scenery is beautifully potrayed and the songs, especially the theme song, Tujhe Dekha, could melt your heart. Even though, it has typical Hindi films ending (where the hero gets the heroin and they live happily ever after), you still seems to get worried that Raj won't be able to get Simran, and you laugh and cry along the movie. I won't spoil the ending for you, but truthfully said, I've never seen another romantic Hindi film that could match to this.
