Ye Wen: Zong shi jue xing (2021)
Slow and boring story, acting not good either.
Fight scenes are ok which is the main reason I ended up watching, final fight was terrible. Would not recommend, should have just watched the clips on YouTube.
Acting is bad also, especially from the British actors and the music doesn't hold up well in any of the scenes.
Went in hoping it would be good and gave it a chance, doesn't match or compete with Donnie Yen's portrayal of Ip Man.
Skip.
Shi Guang Dai Li Ren (2021)
Loving this so far, completed Season 1 now we wait for the Season 2
The OP and ED are both great and one's you don't skip, love the characters and voice acting too, I didn't think I'd get in to hearing mandarin instead of Japanese but when you give it a chance it's actually great.
The individual stories that they go through via the pictures are interesting and then the plot spices up with an introduction of an antagonist in the later half of the show.
Left with a big cliffhanger for Season 2, can't wait for it, but I hope they take their time and do it well, from the teaser trailer I'm already looking forward to it.
Fistful of Vengeance (2022)
Never rated something 1 star on here until now.
Wanted to watch since I liked mostly all the movies Iko Uwais stars in, but in this film it's a waste of talent. It's all fantasy martial arts with people disappearing and blasting away each other wind pulses.
Disappointed since I expected a martial arts film without the fantasy, but turns out it's a Wu Assassin's sequel, which doesn't get mentioned in the title.
Acting also feels off since all the Asian actors are speaking English so it feels like a dub.
Jigeum uri hakgyoneun (2022)
Loved the effects and characters, one of my favourite shows so far.
You end up hoping your favourite characters survives and there's some you hope get eaten.
Lots of unexpected deaths and you never know who's next.
The zombie aspect is done well with good cinematography. There's some truly sad deaths and it's worse when the situation could have been avoided so you feel for the other people.
If you want to watch a thrilling zombie movie, with likeable characters and one's you root for to get bit next, you'll like this.
Agui kkot (2020)
Loved this show, I'd say it's my favourite suspenseful thriller.
I love serial killer Korean tv shows, they just make them so good. Do Hyeon Su was cast perfectly, he has that mysterious vibe/look naturally.
There's lots of suspense and times where you feel that there's no way they can get out of the situation. Each episodes ending leaves you wanting more and to find out what's happening.
Even the soundtrack, which is something I barley notice when it comes to movies and tv shows, was really good.
It's a great show all throughout and I feel it gets progressively better, up until the last episode which wraps things up, but does drag on a bit.
Apart from that I would highly recommend. It's not one to miss.
Mai Neim (2021)
Loved it. Lots of action and suspense.
Lots of action and fight scenes, binged it over two night and really enjoyed it. Ending was predictable, but satisfying and was conclusive.
Would highly recommend.
Ojing-eo geim (2021)
This is one of my favourite Korean shows now.
The premise and aesthetic of the show had me hooked already. Lots of mystery. Love-able and hate-able characters. The "games" they play are always intense and you hope your favourites survive.
It was quite emotional too, there's times where you have to be deceitful to your allies.
Really great show all round. Although the VIP's had atrocious acting when they were introduced around EP 7. Really took me out the immersion for an episode.
Other than that it was amazing, I love Korean shows and you don't get many on Netflix, so I hope the show does well so we see more.
TL;DR
It's great, watch it.
Move to Heaven (2021)
Great show, now one of my favourites.
The synopsis of the series didn't sound like it something I'd get in to, but after the first 1-2 episodes I was hooked in. Watching the backstories of the deceased unfold and how they ended up that way really hits you in the heart strings.
Really loved all the characters in the show, especially Han Geu Ru.
Would recommend.
Gyeongiroun Somun (2020)
One of my favourite Korean shows, love the characters and action throughout!
Just a highly enjoyable watch, good amount of action, comedy and suspense all round.
Loved the characters too, it's one of my favourite shows.
The White Tiger (2021)
Enjoyed the movie but was disappointed in the ending.
The MC wants to leave his village and become a servant to get him out of poverty. His masters are horrible to him, with the exception of Pinky and Ashok. It all builds up to Balram potentially going to retaliate against them. But he decides to kill Ashok and steal his money, the murder was so unnecessary. Also his family was killed that which he knew would happen. He could have just stole money from them by other means and ran away.
But instead he kills Ashok and takes his money, starts up a business and even takes his name.
Despite the ending I did enjoy the film throughout.
Nagwonui bam (2020)
Good movie, lots of action.
If you need some action and a revenge film this I'd recommend.
Binsenjo (2021)
Enjoyable, but the comedy is so bad and almost painful.
I have pushed through the first 2-3 slow episodes, it's now getting better at episode 4.
It would be so much more enjoyable if they comedy parts weren't so forced and cringe.
But I do like most the characters especially the MC and the fake italian chef.
Daman akeseo guhasoseo (2020)
Enjoyable Revenge Thriller
A bit slow at the start but the action scenes were nice, although sometimes the punches don't look convincing. (They speed it up to give the effect)
Yip Man 4 (2019)
A conclusive ending...
I love the Ip Man series and I enjoyed this final instalment too, the fight scenes were good but I feel the ending was kinda rushed. The final fight with the marine sergeant was pretty good, but after that he get's his letter of recommendation, goes home, teaches his son a little bit of the wooden dummy and then that's it, he dies.
Also some of the English dialogue for the actual American actors seemed very cheesy and not well acted.
Lastly you can really anticipate what's going to happen in the story. There's no twists.
But on the positive side, the fight scenes we do get are good, Donnie Yen plays Ip Man perfectly and it's nice to some of the previous characters from the previous films make an appearance.
TLDR: If you like Ip Man or Martial Arts films, you'll enjoy it.
Gisaengchung (2019)
Another great Korean film.
This was one of my favourite films, great acting, I liked the characters and there was lots of suspense.
Yip Man ngoi zyun: Cheung Tin Chi (2018)
If you want some extra Ip Man story it's worth a watch!
As a fan of the original Ip Man with Donnie Yen, this film is good. It's got good fight scenes which to be honest is all I'm here for. Max Zhang is a good actor who plays his role well. If your looking for a good Martial Arts movie you are in the right place.
Baegabondeu (2019)
I've really enjoyed this show.
Lots of good actors, the story is gripping and the pacing is really good too.
Pa-su-kkun (2017)
Lots of suspense and great actors!
I've watched a good amount of this show and so far it's been really good. There's a lot of good actors and the main actress plays her role well.
If you like shows where the main character is trying seek revenge and get justice for the bad things people have done you'll like this.
Dai si hing (2018)
A chill and kinda wholesome movie with a hint of Martial Arts.
I watched the movie because I am a fan of Donnie Yen, it's a good movie, not much story, just a cool teacher teaching his pupils the ways of life. Also there's a little bit of Martial Arts in the film which is nice. I would recommend the movie it's very chill.
Baegabondeu (2019)
I've really enjoyed this show.
Lots of good actors, the story is gripping and the pacing is really good too.
The Chase (2009)
It's the greatest game show of all time.
All the chasers have their own quirk, no matter who is chasing it will be an enjoyable show. They couldn't have picked a better host either. The pacing of the show is good and have a mix of challenging and easy questions.
Ip Man (2008)
This is the film that go me into the martial arts genre.
Love the story and the martial art fights. Donnie Yen plays his role perfectly.
Teo-neol (2016)
One of my favourite Korean Films.
I really enjoyed this film, it's a disaster movie about a guy that gets trapped in a tunnel, very simple plot and Ha Jung Woo plays his role great. I watched it around a year ago and I still remember it to make this review today. Would recommend.
Baegabondeu (2019)
I've really enjoyed this show.
Lots of good actors, the story is gripping and the pacing is really good too.
Pan-dola (2016)
Such a great film!
I never usually write reviews but this film is worth one and I want to remember it by writing this. The story and pacing is great and so is the acting.
