People might rave on how good action this movie shows. To me it's just pointless. Even if i swallow the fact that Mr. Wick is doing impossible things during the entire film, the story about an ex hit-man that goes back in business for revenge is so thin, that it could have been told in 10 minutes instead of two hours. All the movie shows is a thousand ways how to kill someone, nothing else basically. Although nicely filmed, it's a big pointless yawn in the end. Keanu Reeves does his acting job much much better in the Matrix, and The action parts there are much more enjoyable. Waste your time on something with brains behind it. This lacks it completely.
It's not easy to understand why this movie has gotten the raving reviews that it has - not that it's a badly played/performed one - more that it's a movie without a real context/goal. Anna Odell directs and stars in a fictional movie that tells us how a class re-union of hers _might_ have become, if she'd gotten invited to it in the beginning! She isn't invited, and being bullied in school when she was a kid/teenager, this is her way of getting some late kind of revenge. Anna wants to show this movie to hear real former classmates to see their reactions. Their reactions is probably what you'd expect - some ppl just doesn't claim to recognize the picture that Anna has of her childhood, and those who do - doesn't really have anything to say to Anna that eases her pain/helps her understanding. Since the Movie doesn't really address the problems with bullies in schools, or gives some kind of understanding _why_ she couldn't have handled this pain of hers several years ago already, then the Movie kinda falls flat. If you're into Movies, then you'd probably can claim that it's artistic/groundbreaking and showing us something we haven't seen Before. For me, it's just a movie that shows a quite sad/disturbing side of Anna, we cannot really emphatize with her - cause she's behaving quite nonrational throughout the entire history. The Movie leads nowhere, gives no real answers to any question, and makes you wonder "what have I just seen, what was the point with it all" rather than giving you this "A-ha"-experience, that I suppose was her purpose of the film. If you're a cineast, you might like this movie still because of it's way of being 'different' - but if you're like me, like most ppl going to a movie - a regular joe that isn't a cineast, but someone that wants to get amused or getting something to think of - then you'd probably wonder why the heck this movie has gotten the good reviews that it has.
This movie hasn't gotten very good criticism here in Sweden (approx 2/5 in average), and still people here vote it as 6.4 out of 10, up in line with lots of Oscar-awarded movies. After watching this movie I wonder if sanity/good taste and intelligence amongst movie-viewers also have had an expiration date??? After 25 years of a supposedly people-empty Scotland, suddenly new humans appear in Glasgow that has had it's country's population erased after a deadly virus has had it's turn. You would probably believe that possible survivors would try to create a new population and take care of the mess that the virus made, but oh no - we'll dress up as brain dead punks and act all insane, or why not make your own medieval dresses and act as it was 1400-something, but of course with a MUCH more violent touch...?
Hey, it's only 2033, so it makes sense, right? We can also obviously produce our own gasoline as well after 25 years, but we cannot do anything to clean up a Glasgow where the vegetation has had it's turn in the streets, oh well... Anyway, London is about to face the same destiny in 2033 and a team is sent in to find a cure for the disease (why someone didn't do it after a few years is a mystery itself, and why the virus suddenly appeared again is unknown as well...) - As you can guess, the search for a cure isn't as easy as believed...
The plot is so extremely thin, the splatter is so pointless - if the film WOULD have been a zombie/monster-one, OK, but it isn't... The acting is so standard "Only to DVD American B-movie" and there is hardly any well known names in the movie, a shame, cause that could MAYBE have given this movie some dignity...
I love horror movies, I love b-movies and I can watch almost anything and at least enjoy parts of it, but this? OMG...
If you are SOMEWHAT blessed with a normal IQ, don't watch this crap, it's awful! - but if you still decide to do, PLEASE vote this crap down here on IMDb, it's existence is a shame...
