I've just watched first episode andi've found these points,
I think this series got one of the most potential of all to become of one of those emotional-martial art based series, i mean like director could keep the base storyline and for his state of art he could monouver in fighting scenes or like explaining scenes cause god this one got more twists than a maze.
But rather than that they chose a hole new story based on og storyline and characters, which personally i prefer the og storytelling and characters.
I'm yakuza fan since yakuza 1 and i played all of them until 7; after all those games, og story never fails or made a grave flaw or mistake like something which fails it's code.
Specifically, kazuma kiryu is like batman, and his character never crosse's some lines, which failed my at very begining.(The whole point of kazuma kiryu is that he is an honorable man from very begining and this one is a modern boy with some sensible acting)(btw shintaro kazama is a feared honorable and valuable yakuza and never've been disgraced like this from dojima or kazuma(kazuma hanged himself hitting shintaro's hand like that or even thinking those words at start))
Lack of some assuming is very sensible like,Those who made the series, thought that yakuza 1 is the start of story but actually there is a yakuza 0🤣Which ignored by all means and nearly all 1995 scenes makes no sense to me.
Titles in yakuza world is something achieved through a lifetime and sometimes not related to their tattoo(like goro majima which titled mad dog of shimano but has an oni tattoo in his back)It's not that big deal but i guess that it's just the start of ignoring whole plot of developing main characters in future episodes.
Overally, I'm nearly pissed but it wasn't that bad at all to see a yakuza series.
And i really hope that someday in future they fix all these i mentioned and keep og vibe too. This is like director kept first sonic in movie.
