It might be that many people here did not like the movie. That being said it's by no means a bad movie, in my opinion. Far from it.

The camerawork and acting is solid. The story is mundane, believable. There's a certain rawness to the movie.

There's no big fanfares and no incredible "story arch". I don't think there has to be, for this movie to be effective. You get a series of snapshots as the protagonist is simply navigating her life.

Many scenes are in nature, in the van or at concerts.

You could argue the whole movie has a somewhat dull and narcotic vibe to it, but it is fitting.

I suggest you check it out for yourself before you judge it based on what other people think.

Ignore the trailer, this is not a horror movie. It's a romance/drama with a few thriller elements thrown in for good measure.

I like how this movie explores the excitement and pleasure, yet drawbacks of romantic love and attachment.

It does so at a very slow and deliberate pace, in a mature and largely impartial way. That being said, certain parts of the movie are framed in a way that hint at what the director might be thinking.

The story is woven through three distinct storylines in which the two main characters meet under different circumstances and as different people, but they are still somehow connected and drawn to each other.

Léa Seydoux convinces with a very natural and unpretentious performance. The pacing of her acting matches the pacing of the movie itself.

George MacKay brings a calm intensity to the screen with which he grounds the scenes both of them share (and they certainly are the highlight of the movie).

The three connected storylines have a distinct visual feel to each of them and the camerawork is effective and elegant.

I did not notice the music, which in this case is a good thing. It complements the movie and makes it a round experience.
