I just love this series! Marcia Gay Harden and. Skylar Astin are phenomenal as a mother and son pair in this! I love how the show keeps
me both laughing and guessing during each and every episode. While it is helpful to watch the series in order, as there are plot elements that build on each other from episode to episode, doing so is not entirely necessary as, for most episodes, the primary plot is self-contained. I find this refreshing in an era where many shows require weeks of watching, if not years, to see what will transpire. I highly recommend this comedy which is guaranteed to keep you laughing.
Both Meg Ryan and David Duchovny are phenomenal actors and they hold themselves to the same high standard in this movie as well, which is refreshing. Unfortunately though, the all-star cast is the only thing this movie has going for it. There was absolutely no element in the plot to make me want to continue watching. I kept thinking that something would happen to make me want to follow the story, but it never did. I merely found myself contemplating going back to the concession line for more food rather than being able to continue focusing on what was happening on screen. It was a struggle to stay awake until the end, but I did so because I certain it would get better. Unfortunately, it never did.
Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Jenna Ortega, Monica Bellucci, Arthur Conti, and Justin Theroux
all give great performances in this movie which has an abundance of moments that made me laugh. However, between the editing and the writing, something could have been better. Rather than the time flying by as I watched the comedic action unfold onscreen, I found myself thinking that it was cute, but I had gotten my laughs and J was ready to head back home. Yes, the comedy is zany, but I was expecting that. Unfortunately the plot did not pull me along or make me want to stay in my seat to see what would happen next. This movie is okay if you want a somewhat entertaining diversion while you work on a crafting project at home, but I would wait for it to be available on Netflix before taking the time to watch it.
