Under Investigation (1993)
Shot in my store
'93 was a terrif experience w\actor,John Mese. Chatted awhile;David Foster, the location manager was also a gentleman.
Wonderful experience all told at Collector's Camelot !
Girls! Girls! Girls! (1962)
Great Travelogue -One of the BEST !
I am a big fan of this film for a myriad of reasons : -It is vintage El and he is in his prime; -Stella Stevens & Laurel Goodwin; -The locale(the Tropics) -The Colour -Robt.Strauss & Jeremy Slate -The Year 1962(i was 15 & Impressionable !) -The fishing scenes -the Stavroses -what a Soundtrack !(Return to Sender coulda been enough!) -El's Wardrobe(sometimes he looks like a Hood !) -the opening scene(w\a great lieber\stoller opener of a spirited song) -great pacing-never flags in movement of story -amazing body moves while swinging & warbling -perceptible good budget production -fun story line -LOTS of Energy ! etc.etc.etc
Thriller: The Weird Tailor (1961)
The Weird Tailor
Amazing episode-well executed,well-paced,well-acted-well-everything ! Robert Bloch's story is a classic from the pages of "WEIRD TALES" the classic pulp for decades('20's-50's). Remarkable.
Thriller gets a hold of this gem and expands on it beautifully. Henry Jones,MacReady,Kerr,etc. Everyone is doing a tour-De-force job;
The ambiance is superb: it is what you expect from this under rated TV Classic show which ran for two Seasons in 1960 to 1961.
The venerable Karloff sets us up deftly w\his excelled hosting and narration.
Special effects are really nicely done especially portraying "the enchanted suit."
Stanley Adams is quite a revelation as the stern Landlord and shows us some nuance towards the end of his scene towards the doomed Jones and adroitly reflects just the right amount of humanity.
The pace is effective, always moving, holding our attention.
Undoubtedly, this Tale is a top tiered entry and is rather memorable: everything plainly works !
Dig That Uranium (1955)
Wonderfully Entertaining
One of my favorites when it comes to the Bowery Boys Series...indeed it is poignant that this was Louie's last appearance as he died in a car accident.
The series would never be the same and neither would Slip; but Huntz Hall bravely soldiered on as he was an under-rated comedic talent.
This episode has a modern feel to it and a lot of things came together to make this one an entertaining piece in the BB canon.
CHARACTER ACTORS have a vital role here:Raymond Hatton shines and i like Myron Healey as the "heel"
Louie needs to be singled out as a terrific foil;he is diffused w\charm and feistiness !
It's breezy and just plain fun....
Thriller: Well of Doom (1961)
Well of Doom
Here is an episode that is wildly atmospheric ! Great cast members and a clever tale of deception and keeping one off balanced most of the way.
Fun cast headed up with the one and only Henry Daniell and a suave Ronald Howard whose father is the famed Leslie Howard of GWTW.
The mood is heavy but delightfully Gothic and reminds one of a good old fashioned ghost story.
Significant are the presence of Richard Kiel who would later play "Jaws" in 2 James Bond movies and the likable Torin Thatcher who has two turns at wizardry in "7th Voyage of Sinbad" & "Jack the Giant Killer" both starring vehicles for the dashing Kerwin Mathews.
"Well of Doom" is pure hokum but fun nevertheless and IMO ranks in the top tier of one of the great episodes of this under rated series which broke new ground in Horror\Terror television "back there" some 48 years ago ! -mby
Bill Kennedy at the Movies (1956)
The Best !
So many remember B.K.as i do with the fondest of memories dating back to 1957 !
He was without peer, great at what he did...he made life a little better in Detroit because he was there doing his shtick !
It is still neat to discover him in movies or old TV shows and see him young and handsome and really quite tall !
But he aged well smoking his ciggies on the air.And filling us with the latest Hollywood gossip or delving in his files to discuss an old actor or film.He was a fount of Film Trivia ! We still miss you,Bill,God Bless your memory !
