Magic tricks are only interesting as long as you don't know how they're done, the moment they're explained you get the "oh!" satisfaction for just a mere moment that retroactively ruins the magic trick.
Replace magic trick with pretty much every concept or character the show (not just this spin off but also the original) explained away for no real reason, all for cheap satisfaction that doesn't lead anywhere or stay.
As for this spin off itself - it's bad, maybe a little better than the movie, the main conflict is solved in a way so utterly moronic and on brand you'd think it a phantasy of a 6 year old who just had an espresso with a whole tablespoon of sugar, the only place this show and it's world belongs is as far as away from the original team as possible.

The characters are all completely butchered, the writing is stupendously bad and the animation is bland and uninspired except for one scene in episode 4 and even then it really wasn't anything that interesting.
The show is supposedly set in the 1940s~ yet everything except for the guns and cars is essentially modern, including all of the politics.
Pacing is completely cooked, there's a scene where Barbara walks into a psych ward room; she talks to the schizo in there for a total of maybe 15 words with no cuts and now it's apparently been 5 minutes and this pattern repeats across the entire show, characters say nary a couple of words and
And lastly - I'm not sure if there's even just 1 good line read in the entire thing, Batman himself is the worst of it - the entire time he sounds like a 11 year old pretending to be Batman while on crack from the pipe he stole off his deadbeat dad, this is 100% on the director and not on the voice actors as it's way too consistent with everyone, incredibly embarrassing.
I'd like to hope that season 2 (if it even comes) will address anything but I sincerely doubt it, there is just too much to fix.
