So, usually I give very high scores. This one.... hm, well, the acting was just so unconvincing... or was that on purpose? Ok, maybe the girl's (woman's) voice was part of it, kind of cure, uncommon voice... but the other actors too were sometimes like... reciting rather than acting.
I may be wrong but I got that impression.
Apart from this, well, I really did enjoy the movie, it kept me engaged, the tension is there, the drama is there... good pictures and colors too.... good-looking main actress.... eerie atmosphere sometimes, that was well done, ou could feel the girl's (woman's) loneliness... the intesnity of it all.... But on the other hand again, it was a bit unconvicning, it all went too fast somehow in the movie, I mean in terms of people processing what is happening. Somehow.
But I liked it.
Oh, must add a caution, there are lots of dead bodies in the movie.

I really really enjoyed this movie. Some say it's amateur? Well, it may seem this way because it's part comedy. It has its funny over-acted moments. But it is also all in all very serious, REALLY makes you think.
I must also say it is not what I expected, when I read "times travel" I excpected some kind of sci fi (have been watching them a lot). But htis is a family Christmas movie. That touches on really deep topices like family relationships, life choices, even life and death.
It makes you really feel for the main character. I think she acted really really well.
The movie is full of sentiments, emotions, and the different characters are depicted wonderfully. It could make you laugh and cry. And cry for joy as well.

So! A very simple premise, and then so many connections and relevations, and SO much humanity! Yes, maybe that's what it is, the humanity of it. The heartfelt stories of those people.
And the characters. Now, a stuck underground with bright sharp inner light is a good place for character studies. The light helps too. The picture is so clear in this movie. Clear to see details in the faces.
And then the acting. And the people chosen for the movie. The characters chosen to be studied. The homeless guy is perfect. Hearing him speak reminded me of my time in the US. (even though I was in SF and not in NY, and that in the late 90s and 2000s). Reminded me of people I had met. Ok, the characters may be clichee, but then again, they weren't. Every one of them eas special too.
Plus it is a very original movie. A musical. Which somehow fit wonderfully in this movie. The movie is about different kinds of art in aw way too, anyway.
And the ending was wonderful too. Again, so much heartfelt humanity.
And maybe one of the messages is just that people are NOT cliche after all. That we really don't know one another and should ot judge at first sight.
In any case, a very good movie, simple and still there is so mich more to it.
