Like many , i watched the first to see if I'd stay with it. Wasn't sure after first , tried a second. It started getting to me. Blue Bayou episodes later , I'm totally hooked. For a mostly non action episode, this was unbelievable. While mostly missing Mike Franks(mostly) , Lala , Caleb , Woodrow Vera , and Vera , an unbelievable performance by London Garcia made it great . I was astounded by it. She , alongside s fine but short performance by Kyle Schmid , made this my favorite episode so far. Great insight into the Gibbs we came to know and love. ( at least i did) i will never hear Blue Bayou again without thinking of this episode. A personal highlight of the episode , the voice over of Mark Harmon " paper or plastic?" . Great episode. Loved it .
I can't remember ever giving ANY Hallmark movie a ten. I have loved most , tolerated some , cringed through a few , but never a 10. This movie hit all the right notes. Funny , sentimental, and , of course , romantic. Kimberley Sustad and Benjamin Ayres are perfect in their roles. Kimberley's realistic doubts of her future came across as totally believable. Benjamin plays a his role perfectly, and the chemistry between the two is undeniable, even if it starts a bit slowly. Adding in Paul Campbell doing research for a role is perfect. Trevor Lerner is great as a confused Santa , Lindsay Winch is starting up the Hallmark ladder , expect her to be a lead soon . Carmel Amit( great in Field Day also) is wonderful , as is Graeme McComb . The rest of the cast is good also , just not that much to do. There are numerous one liners thrown out that you need to pay attention for. You may not give it a 10 , but I think you'll want to see this one every year at Christmas time.
Just stumbled on this one on TCM. Always been Dennis Morgan fan , but never really knew much about Jane Wyman other than her one time marriage to a future president. They made a really good team in this one. The love ( from his end) and hate ( from her end ) finally tilted toward him. With the always dependable Eve Arden in a supporting role , not much more is needed. But throw in Tom Tully as a private detective with much comic relief, the movie really got going. Not sure I'm buying the Jack Lemmon sighting , but it could just be me. Couldn't find him. Give this one a chance , hoping you'll enjoy it as much as I did.
