Not having high expectations for a film I never saw or heard of in theaters, I was surprised at how entertaining this film was. True, there is some wooden acting by some of the actors, and Rachel Hunter's accent seems out of place in Texas, but the performances were by and large very good. What was more interesting was the story with enough twists to keep you guessing. Though I eventually figured some of it out in the end, it wasn't extremely predictable. You can kind of rule out some individuals, but others cast suspicion on themselves that it mixes things up. It is worth the rent.
Pioneer did a fantastic job of making this DVD, as the picture was crisp and the sound was very clear. The story was very good, and you start liking the characters right from the start. Fredrik is right in that it initially seems like a feminist anime, but it isn't. It is a look at two warring cultures that start overcoming their stereotypes in order to fight a more horrible enemy. The music and visual effects as well as the story are worth checking this film out.
