Elemental (2023)
Great animation
The animation style is great (as usual for a Pixar animation). Although the concept of opposite attracts is somewhat of a myth or a cliche, it still manage to send a powerful message about love and challenges to obtain that love (in this case it's fire and water elements). The worldbuilding is also great, though I'm somewhat confused how that fact that the water character don't "die" but simply evaporated into thin air (and can be recover by simply condense into their liquid self). Also, the fact that the story is loosely base around the director's life as an immigrant is fascinating on its own.
YouTubers React (2012)
Not Good, Not Great
Much like any other reaction channels out there, it's not very creative in my opinion, because "__ reacts to __" format is getting boring and stale as time goes on, as the method of entertainment is still the the same overall "Get some popular YouTubers and make them watch something", of course they do had challenges like "try not to ___" or something like that, but that is also overused in other channels too, and sometimes the reason I watch this is because I want to see some famous faces (which is nice to have your favorite YouTuber on their video) not their reactions
In conclusion, it's a 3/10.
Don't Hug Me I'm Scared 2: Time (2014)
Creatively Creepy
Lot of things had happen in recent times sometimes good, sometimes not good, and "time" will always be here to stay...forever. And the fact that it's somewhat effective at it's message is something.
Who knew that a children's show parody featuring puppets would be so terrifying yet so aesthetically creative, with some gory/disgusting decay as a sign of the passage of time, increasing the dreed of its character as they're screaming in pain and agony
Of course, if that's too deep when it comes too horror-themed parody, then I'm afraid that you're probably not gonna like it. 8/10, would not watch it again.
Every [Blank] Ever (2015)
What Happen If You Milked It Till Dry
What was once a somewhat refreshing idea at first if you think about it, somewhat similar to other ideas like "If __ was real" or "Food Battles", it became a boring, repetitive, lazy and down right overused series in some ways or another, as they can't seems to start any new video without just thinking some another ideas of sort
Because of it, many people (including me) are begging the team to try something new for once. Sometimes not overusing the trope is the better ways to grow, from what I can remember most of the recent videos never gains more than 500 000 views, good thing that they changed for the better nowadays.
YouTube Rewind: The Shape of 2017 (2017)
The Beginning of The Bad
I not sure how they do this but I remember that MatPat from "The Game Theorist" channel had predicted that 2015 onwards would be the end of good YouTube Rewinds (Their prediction was of by a year early but it's still pretty accurate in retrospect)
Some of the people that YouTube cast may look innocent in their eyes, but not for anyone who read the news (or spends a lot more time on the internet than the executive who runs the platform). The fact that some of would probably landed on the trending page for the "morally challenged" video that they made months prior to the release of Rewind is something I would never thought would happen.
YouTube Rewind 2018: Everyone Controls Rewind (2018)
History "Will" Remember This (sorry for the pun)
Imagine it's 2018 and you're YouTube - the embodiment of a multi-billion dollar platform with years of experience in the video making industry and trends as a whole; and you decided that everyone should "controls rewind" that year, what would you think it's going to be?
That would be great in theory, because it would democratized the rewind that you're planning and everyone'll be happy for what they expect (because the highlights, trends and events were created by the people and not muti-million or even billion dollar companies/content farmers)
Now imagine that Baby Shark are more important than this! That's the 2018 rewind oversimplified...
Don't Hug Me I'm Scared 6 (2016)
A surprise to be sure but a welcome one
As the series ended (at least on YouTube) with it's 6th and final episode. It has got to be a greatest surrealist independent kids-parody creation I've have ever seen so far.
Off course it's not for anyone with a faith of heart or a weak stomach, but it's surely popular among the creepy/weird community and eventually the millions of people known as the 'general audience' on YouTube
Beginning as they usually would do, it start out as a normal looking kids show. It then shows the origin story of how the shows begins as it continues and end with the alternated version of themselves in the 1st episode anew.
YouTube Rewind 2019: For the Record (2019)
How to NOT end with the Bang
The fact that having a very bad ending/finale before it got cancelled during the pandemic is not only give me a bad taste in my mouth, it's also gave little to no chance for any upcoming YouTubers and creators alike that can be feature for the official Rewind as a way to save the series from being remember as "the one who made 2018 sucks".
But unfortunately there's no way that they gonna bring back the series anyway because of the awful reputation they had in the late 2010s. Especially towards their newcomers and big stars with their questionable policy/terms and yes... the removal of dislikes.
Epic Rap Battles of History (2010)
Creatively Informative
This is not only creative but it also outstandingly good for a rap battle. Ever since the first video on YouTube, it has grown in quality and popularity.
It's very informative in the fact that the they're roasting the opponent with knowledge that sometimes seems obscure for the general public while been very entertaining for the general public
With many different historical and well known people that leave the mark on our world from the past to the present. It's no wonder why it's so good to watch and personally choose who's the winner in every battle in the comment section
Overall I gonna say keep making the good vids.
Film Theory (2015)
Film Theory - Is It Well Made???
Being a spinoff version of the more popular 'Game Theory' from 'The Game Theorist' channel, 'Film Theory' has most of it's trait that makes it good in the first place:
Some well thought out theory for any kind of films or video or EVEN real life events (though only some if not a tiny amount of it were true in the end), nice editing style that got better and better as time goes on, an iconic voice from 'Mat Pat'- the host and creator of the series himself, ect.
It was fun to watch and speculate on whether it's was facts to the main lore/cannon or not and even when he's wrong about it he's still gonna continue it.
Markiplier (2012)
A humble but rich Youtuber
Markiplier has a lot of impact in the social media landscape especially YouTube (the 2nd highest monthly user before Facebook), not only know as a lets player but he also know in many ways a kind hero of some sort depending on how you view him
He doesn't seems fully comprehend the amount of x that he create when discuss in any interview, because he's so big! Whether that's the amount of money, views, memes making poke fun of him and yes... trolls
He is humble and kind to many people and fans that he manage to get a lot of donation money from his livestream so that he can fund huge charities!
Shrek Retold (2018)
A great collaborative work
The fact that there're 200 different unique animators and artist with their own different ways and styles of art to retold a masterpiece that is 'Shrek' is already phenomenal!
By parodying-ish a mainstream movie with this amount of people to do this is incredibly good, from 2D to 3D to live action and so on has make this retelling more real more passionate and maybe even adds it's "charm".
Although it's a great spoof movie, it does lacks their consistency because with it's amount of people like this, there's gonna be some sort of 'yes yes no' kind of vibe.
Overall it's a good parody so make sure to check it out yourself.
Llamas with Hats (2009)
Dark, Twisted, Shocking and Funny
This is not for anyone with a week heart nor stomach 'cause it's clearly not for everyone, especially for young children
However with it's dark, twisted humor and it's somewhat good enough animation that got (somewhat increasingly) better as the episode goes on, it's does has it's charm that most YouTuber can't allow to do nowadays - being very shocking AND good at the same time.
And as the series continue, it got more and more twisted as the llamas are having their lives gone increasingly worse and worse until the very last moment in the finale (I won't gonna spoil it for the sake of this review)
Asdfmovie: Asdfmovie8 (2014)
A great 2 minute skit
This black and white 2 minute British YouTube animation from the 2010s is (at least in my opinion) great to watch
It's has jokes and humor that is either funny or dark depending on what jokes are being presented in a span of 2 minutes and whether you can handle it or not (although the creator really don't to want to have someone who's under 12 watching his creation)
It has a minimalist style with simple characters with notable exception that is the cow with a cool hat and a skateboard that denied NOT being a real man, and maybe some red blood which also shown but in the later part of the video.
Animator vs. Animation V (2020)
The greatest of it's kind
The fact that we get to see a 5th installment of the greatest animation series on YouTube for free is just a miracle time to be alive in this pandemic.
With a surprising plot twist, a detailed backstory/origin that's left of from the 1st episode, a 3D style drawing in a 2D animation, dramatic music in almost every fight scene with emotional intensity form characters that CAN'T EVEN SHOW EMOTION, just shows that even in this trying time, an this content creator can create such a masterpiece ever since 'Animation v Animator IV' and it's spinoffs.
I really hope you like it as well 'cause I think you're gonna enjoy it.
Animator vs. Animation (2006)
Oldie but Goldie animation
It's wonderful to see how much does the animation and storyline has improve over the years, ever since the 1st video was made in the early years of YouTube in 2006 it has blew up in virality as more people want to see who's winning in a battle between the animator and his animation. It's was very fun to watch even for the time! Although a lot of things happened in just 1 scene, so you need to rewatch it so you don't miss the details.
Also the fact that it has it's own spinoff/continuation after the 4th video not only diversifying the series plot point, it also truly amazing to watch and that's why I recommended to check it out.
Asdfmovie (2008)
A great but dark and humorous series
As a Tom Ska's subscriber, I love how he turn what used to be a comic from the early 2000s into a 14 episode skit with minimalist style animation, that has a lot of jokes in every episode (most likely dark/edgy humor or twisted our expectation humor). Although he had retire form it after the 14th episode recently but at least we still can enjoy what he had left for us on YouTube for free! It's funny for it's time though I have to warn you it's only suitable for teens and adults. Overall go check him and his work while you can and I hope you won't regret it because if you don't like it that's fine.
