This is a FLOP, there ain't 2 ways about it.
You can see Kyle Mooney's type of "comedy" hard-core fans talking about how the movie "is BAD ON PURPOSE" - but if you're reaching so hard for a reason to justify a film being this bad in the first place, then this thing is definitively not worth your time.
The "comedy" in this thing is awkward and sparse (just like Kyle Mooney - big surprise) and no one can justify sitting for the whole movie just for 1 or 2 chuckles (some of it you had already seen in the trailer).
Yes, being awkward can be funny sometimes, but not for 2 straight hours. Tiresome is the least we can say about Y2K (while still being polite).

The easiest thing to say about this series is that is just horrible; that you will be wasting your time and it would be much better spent elsewhere, since there is so much content available nowadays.
I'm not saying it is horrible just because it is dark; there is plenty material that is dark and yet fascinating (or at least interesting). This one is not that.
The main character is so unlikable it's not too hard to believe the dope looking actor is also the writer of the whole mess. There is no arc to the story, it is just horrible things happening one after another and you just keep thinking 'this guy really brings it on himself' and 'will this get better at any point'?. There is no light at any point really.
He is supposed to be a comedian, but neither the writer nor the actor could bring even a single chuckle throughout the whole of the series.
Worse, the guy knows he is unlikable but still exposes himself for everyone to see in this horrible story; and, if that's not enough he makes sure he is the main actor. Go figure...
Dull, dark and pointless. A horrible experience. Avoid at all costs.

Seriously, who the hell wrote this? It is not only brilliant, but highly original - and in today's market for movies this is so rare, I can hardly put it in words.
Almost everything we watch nowadays is either a remake, a mashup, a "reimagining", a variation, a retelling of old stories or even a plain simple copy of something else (just with different actors).
This movie is not "that". It takes you on a journey that you can never tell exactly where will go; and even if you keep tryin' to guess the plot or even the genre or genres you could possibly classify it, it throws you a curveball every 15 minutes.
More than that, it tells some beautiful messages - some obvious ones that are nonetheless nice to hear every once in a while.
I'm 99% sure that you've never seen this story and that you'll be probably glad you did once the movie is over.
