Stumbled upon this 90s movie and have to say this is top quality. Albeit, predictable in parts but a very good blend of quality dialogue, acting and tension to go with an interesting storyline.
Pullman and Baldwin were excellent in their roles here. Nicole does what she does and tries to make up for her lack of believability by luring us with her over eager moments to undress and always seems to grow her own ego in these roles by playing a troubled desperate housewife sort of role, but the male leads were really spot on here anyway.
Enjoyed this movie, will look for more of the same. Nothing over the top, nothing out of place or lacking and nothing fancy, just well spoken characters, intelligence and well written scenes.

Josh Brolin (Frank) and the kid were outstanding here. Kate did well too until things got a bit tough for her and was a bit outshone by the conviction and energy of the other two. She really didn't play a depressed person well enough. She preferred to just stay quiet and timid. But Thais didnt work.
Set in 80s America, although nothing at all except Frank's clothing looked like the 80s in this movie. That was the frost issue I had. Secondly, there was nothing about how she could afford a house like that on her own. Not enough on the backgrounds of each. We basically see the movie in the eyes of a teenager who is starting his hormonal faze and becoming curious about girls, and needs a father figure because his mother lacks being depressed.
Although the whole idea and story was good the critics hates it because it was too basic and frail. Thats critics for you. They forget the movie is set decades ago. I don't think they fully understood the movie. The kid carried this movie and deserved huge praise.

Weak romantic scenes, weak in terms of tension and horror and a bit weak in the acting as well. The other major thing people will score on is the actual narrative within the movie. Which to be fair wasn't bad at all. Just needed more of the others probably to please the audience a bit more. This was sort of your B type movie in the genre. Nothing really you'll remember and nothing really was impressive enough. I did like the idea of the female ghost instead of a male ghost. I did like the fact the male lead wasn't a fighter like a Liam Neeson sort of guy, just a normal guy from Australia having a chat with his partner and trying to enjoy. The female lead was quite good at times though she lacked on the acting at other times.
There wasn't many characters in it, but the movie definitely wasn't boring. Unlike a lot these days on Netflix. At least there wasn't the usual special effects and over use of tech that we'd usually see. Australia are behind with all that but they do have good ideas and are improving now.
