The Rachels (2017)
Don't take it seriously
As long as you don't take this movie as a serious, top of the line production (which it's not) and more of a student film it's pretty enjoyable.
Pro: You're not on the edge of your seat but it is intriguing to follow along and unravel what caused the literal fall of Rachel Nelson. Like what went down between her and Rachel Richards and Rachel's (Roxie) true motives behind "exposing" Rachel Richards.
Con: It's obvious that they changed directions in their writing as the film progressed. I.e it went from Richards "revealing" that she knew that Roxie was "sneakily" on the roof that night, to the flashback showing them literally standing next to each other and making eye contact. So basically, both knew what happened but I guess to trick the viewers it seems that they both got hit with mild dementia. But, you know, it's a tv movie and these things happen so it's no big deal.
Again... Don't. Take. It. Seriously. And you'll find it quite decent.
Initiation (2020)
Could've been better
Okay listen it was alright for the most part but there's many errors...
Maybe if it revealed who actually assaulted Kylie or what actually went down in the room and not the same reoccurring flashbacks that tell us nothing, the revenge plot of the dad would've made more sense. Or even if the movie began with the display of Kylie and her dad's close relationship, the revenge plot would've been amazing...but it didn't.
The deaths were pretty good coming from an avid gore/slasher film lover but a drill as a staple weapon seemed like the writers and producers were like "oh, this is new, let's do this". Perhaps it could've been better if multiple characters (especially the dad) were seen using a drill/power tools, it would also let us rule out our suspects better as it's pretty impossible to do with the way the movie is set up.
Also the suspense was pretty dead. So the movie is mid.
Cruel Summer (2021)
So Mallory just gets off easy huh
Okay so overall 10 stars the show was amazing from the start... however, why wasn't Mallory put under fire?
For "seeing" Kate, Jeanette was basically thrown into the lion's den and almost everyone hated her. Now when it's revealed that Mallory was the actual one to see her everything is all kumbuya?
1. Mallory knew that there was absolutely no way that it could've been Jeanette to see Kate since... WELL IT WAS HER, and yet she played against Jeanette.
2. She kept quiet about it for the sake of her friendship and crush on Kate, which is just so lame of her.
Also, Jeanette had the opportunity to name her on live tv but she sadly chose not to. Soon after we see that Kate and Mallory oh so predictably share a kiss and are now probably girlfriends hurrah hurrah
But I will say, with Jeanette now being cleared as innocent she can now get away with the fact that she did have the opportunity to save Kate from the basement but she didn't which saves the ending from being too underwhelming. Jeanette was extra creepy during that interview though. Alright that's it, my opinion's over.
