Penyalin Cahaya (2021)
Classy film, full of meaning
A female student had to lose her scholarship due to the spread of photos of herself at a party. Not only did she lose her scholarship, the female student also had to leave her home after being expelled by her parents for her actions. With the help of his friend, a copy keeper, he investigates and searches for evidence of scattered photographs.
Photocopier is one of the good movies and full of meaning. It is time for Indonesian cinema to raise films with the theme of phenomenal issues. Photocopier raise social issues related to sexual harassment in educational institutions. This of course can be one of the discussion materials that must be discussed and there needs to be a better understanding of campuses to prevent sexual harassment. There is also support for victims so that those who are victims are able to speak up and not get pressure that actually makes them down.
Photocopier are able to present well-packaged social issue stories. With a theme that still often occurs in Indonesia, Wregas Bhanuteja managed to bring the issue well and neatly. A storyline that develops every minute. The pace of the film is not in a hurry to plot a story that is increasingly heated with conflicts that are increasingly full and dense. Raising conflicts that are also still quite related to everyday life. Dialogues with everyday language make the audience relate enough to understand the story in it. For the characters are so good at playing the characters. Shenina Cinnamon shows her quality in this film. This film became a place for her to shine as an actress.
Sing 2 (2021)
Good mix of Scarjo and Bono voices
Buster and his friends began their new career by going to Redshore City to audition for a show held by Jimmy Crystal. Buster promises an amazing show by inviting reclusive rock legend Clay Calloway back on stage.
Continuing the story of the interesting show from the previous film, Sing 2 this time for me looks really much more interesting. The performance of the Buster show is described as much more energetic, festive, colorful and of course with an interesting appearance theme. Sing 2 has a fun, entertaining and funny story plot of each character. This film has a balanced portion of each character who has its own conflict. The final scene of Bono became the best performance of this film with his legendary song that amazes.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
The gathering of the spider-man trio
After Spider-Man's secret identity was revealed, now Peter Parker's life has become disrupted. In order to eliminate the disturbance, Peter goes to Doctor Strange for help. However, an unexpected danger comes to Peter's next life.
TRULY ONE OF THE SPIDER-MAN FRANCHISES THAT SPOILS ITS FANS!!!! Spider-Man: No Way Home is Tom Holland's third film series which has so far become one of the films that continues to be discussed by many people, whether from the presence of the old cast to scenes that might become memorable for us to watch the previous version of Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Spider-Man: No Way Home tells the story of Peter Parker who asks Doctor Strange for help so that his life can return to normal. However, the spell becomes a disaster after Peter continues to harass Doctor Strange. Actually, for me the concept of the story is certainly a cringe because it is too easy to be brought into a foundation for conflict and Spider-Man's story this time. A college teenager who asked for a Sorcerer Supreme who should be wise in fact obeyed the wishes of the boy. Moreover, just a chatty interference from Parker actually resulted in the spell. Very irrelevant to me as a superhero movie. Coupled with the concept of Peter's character who is so innocent with his good intentions to help the villains of different universes get back on the path of kindness also for me kind of how to understand the story this time. I think that after Peter has been adventuring with the Avengers can cultivate Peter's maturity so far, this is not the case. Overall, this film is indeed a bit different from the previous Spider-Man films. This time for me, Spider-Man shows Peter Parker's childish side and immature maturity in carrying out the task of a masked hero. The result was the mess he had received during this time. Spider-Man: No Way Home is one of the favorite Spider-Man franchises because it has presented old characters, starting from the versions of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Of course, this pleases Spider-Man fans in nostalgic watching the cast from the previous version, starting from Dr. Octo, Green Goblin, and even Electro. Of course, the presence and gathering of the three Spider-Men has become one of the memorable scenes to date.
Srimulat: Hil yang Mustahal - Babak Pertama (2022)
Entertaining and fresh biopic
Based on the journey of a group of legendary comedy groups in Indonesia, Srimulat. This film tells the beginning of their journey as a local comedy group that began to try their luck in the capital and became a famous comedy group on national television.
What a movie!! This movie is so amazingly funny. The humors of the ancients (of course I wasn't born yet) were so entertaining and somehow I was so associated with their humor that when I watched them I and my family laughed incessantly. This film tells the story of the journey of a group of comedians who are trying their luck to be able to appear on national television shows. This comedy group fronted by Gepeng, Asmuni, Basuki, Timbul, Tarzan, Tessy, Nunung and so on has indeed become a legendary comedy icon in Indonesia. This film for me succeeded in bringing to the story of their early career with an entertaining comedy, a story that is carried lightly and easily understood and the actors are fairly totality (some of them are even fairly similar). Almost every scene contains a lot of comedy elements that make it funny. However, for me this film also became tired quickly to watch because there were too many comedy scenes that continuously appeared so that the audience did not have a pause to try to understand and follow the story of Srimulat itself. In fact, the conflict of this film is also not so strong. The story conlict for me is too inclined to the character Gepeng who is in love so it narrows the focus of the story to just one character. Even though many characters in this film might be developed with their own conflicts. Overall, the film is funny and worth waiting for.
The Good Nurse (2022)
New insights for movie lovers with eccentric murder action
Based on a true story involving a series of mysterious deaths experienced by patients in various hospitals in the United States. Based on the story of a nurse who is in the case of a mysterious death of a patient in the hospital she works. Whereas there has never been such a case before. Suspicions and suspicions arise in his new colleague who has a mysterious and reclusive background.
Based on a true story that has been made into a previous novel, The Good Nurse gives us new insight into a serial murder story that is so unexpected. When I first read the synopsis of this film and read the real case, it made me interested to watch this film. Moreover, this is one of the films with thriller, crime and mystery themes that is quite surprising for me in seeing how and how great and determined it is in committing murders that are quite beyond logic. The Good Nurse is a slow-tempo thriller and crime film with many dramatized scenes. The plot of the story that runs slowly but does not give the intensity of the story which then gives tension or so on, actually still feels stagnant with a slow tempo and full of conversations that for me are quite boring. In the end, The Good Nurse provides many plot holes in it and displays an ending that is quite unclear how the continuation or reason behind the murder case makes this film have an ending that is not good in showing the aspect of conlusion in it. It's unfortunate that The Good Nurse for me has such a slow tempo that in the end it all feels long. In the end, all the secrets were revealed just in my mouth with a flat sentence, "Oh that's the way..." and "Then what is the motive, how come it's not clear".
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)
Saying goodbye to Peter, Gamora, Nebula, Mantis, Drax and welcome new members of the Guardians
The final journey and mission of the Guardians in their adventures in the universe. For this time, Peter Quill and his team must face enemies from Rocket Racoon's past who want to reclaim Rocket Racoon. The success of their mission depends on the Guardians, otherwise it will be the end for the Guardians.
Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 is an epic conclusion to the adventure story of the Guardians in the universe. The parting story is quite moving and heartwarming to see their departure as Guardians. GotG vol.3 still provides its own experience watching the Guardians with colorful visuals, old songs that are still a mainstay and humors that are still funny and entertaining. However, GotG vol.3 brings something that for me is so deep. Bringing to a glimpse of Rocket Racoon's past which turns out to make us sad and concerned. The friendship scene between Theefs, Floor, Rocket and of course Lyla brings us a moving atmosphere and a strong feeling of friendship between them. It can be said that this third series brings a much deeper element to see the sadness of Rocket Racoon's past. Rocket's past makes us stunned by how experiments on animals are so cruel and not so good. Overall, GotG vol.3 is the conclusion of a slick and extraordinary Guardians story. The new cast, Chukwudi Iwuji and Will Poulter, become new characters who make a good impression with a slick performance. Chukwudi who played The High Revolutionary became the most memorable character as a villain. The character is just right, appears aggressively, and is able to give the impression of a villain who is really evil and threatening. Likewise with Will Poulter as Adam Warlock which for me is very perfect. The appearance is fairly new but able to bring a positive impression to fans. Of course, it is very sad to see the members of the Guardians who are starting to live their new stories and scatter each other. Meanwhile, now the Guardians have a new member to look forward to.
The Pope's Exorcist (2023)
Vatican religious horror
Based on the true story of Gabriele Amorth, a prominent Vatican priest who became the Vatican's Chief Exorcist. Father Gabriele Amorth is now handling and investigating the possession of a young boy amid the emergence of a conspiracy kept secret by the Vatican.
Based on a true story, The Pope's Exorcist is one of the religious-themed horrors that is quite dark. Presenting the story of a priest who is famous for exorcism to his congregation, The Pope's Exorcist is enough to give a terrifying atmosphere in it. There are not many horror elements like in other horror films, but it is enough to provide tension and horror. The Pope's Exorcist for me wasn't very impressive and didn't feel enthusiastic in watching it in its entirety. The conflict of the story that for me does not appear convincing and too many scenes are over-dramatized. Likewise, there are many conflicts that become plot holes in it so that it becomes one of the less interesting pieces of the story. The conspiracies presented are also not very good so that overall this film feels responsible to have two conflicts. Overall, The Pope's Exorcist was quite good with Russell Crowe's performance which for me was quite slick.
Ban Chao Buchayan (2023)
The most important act is actually in 2/3 of the film
A film inspired by scary true events. A happy little family must be disturbed by the strangeness and terror of a sect that rents their house. The terror continues to befall their little daughter who will become a new host for the desired spirit.
Thai films do provide an interesting, unique and creative treat. Home for Rent is one of the proofs of films that provide a new experience in watching horror films. Home for Rent does not just provide the story of a secret sect that is disguised in it, but in terms of stories that have an interesting plot in it. This film has a runtime of 2 hours which may only feel the excitement of this film after an hour after. How not, at the beginning of this film the intensity of the film is quite slow in introducing the characters and conflicts in it. Only an hour later, the film experienced an improvement in the story and became the beginning of the climax of this film. Home for Rent presents a plot twist in it with a backward plot to see it from a different perspective. Not long after, a plot twist occurs again in it with a new angle. Which then connects into a clear unity. Even at the end of the film and the climax of the film still presents an unexpected plot. The climactic scene gives a different ending. Shocking, moving, unexpected and in the end becomes an ending that gives a sense of sincerity in it.
Home for Rent provides an interesting and unique mystical horror treat. Appearing different from the story in general, Home for Rent is not only centered on how the sect works, but on a sad drama. Nothing but a sad drama wrapped in a mystical horror story. Home for Rent has a good lineup of actors. They are able to provide stories that make us curious and feel suspenseful. A story plot that plays nicely. The continuous plot twist makes us continue to be surprised and not expect. Overall, the movie is good.
Insidious: The Red Door (2023)
The jumpscares are amazing
Dalton Lambert, who has now grown up, is faced with the terrors of his past that come back to haunt him. To stop their demons once and for all, Dalton along with his father, Josh Lambert, close the red door and get Dalton out of it The Futher.
Insidious: The Red Door brings on the story of the previous two Insidoius franchises. Indirectly, this makes the audience a little forgotten about the events of the first and second films. Overall, the fifth film in the Insidious franchise doesn't feel jarring as a horror film. As a director as well as the main actor in this film, of course, there is still a lot of work done by Patrick Wilson considering this is his first film as a director. Patrick Wilson, who has starred in many horror films, is undoubtedly in exploring his role. Patrick Wilson played his role well and well, giving his quality in horror films and giving his best ability, especially in this film as a director. However, throughout the film, it is unfortunate in terms of the story presented.
Insidious: The Red Door is a horror film that deserves thumbs up in terms of its jumpscares. Some scenes are able to give a tense and surprising feel. The scoring that is very fitting to be delivered adds to the impression of horror given, especially in the scenes in The Futher. It is unfortunate in terms of story this film is still fairly lacking creativity and shallow story development. Family conflict between father and son with minimal story development. Very flat and does not give a good impression in terms of story. The conflict that does not affect anything even though at the end of the story gives a touch of conscience that raises a little atmosphere in the film. Likewise, the events and conflicts experienced by Dalton also felt nanggung to be presented. There is not much terror that gives a terrible atmosphere or the like. Overall, the film is good at providing a great jumpscare experience, but falls short in terms of story.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Just full of bluish, much higher quality CGI display
Set a decade after the events of the first film, the lives of Jake Sully and Neytiri who live quietly with their families are now again disturbed by the presence of the previous enemy who began to pursue Jake Sully's whereabouts. Now, Jake Sully's family begins to learn about his new life in the waters to become their refuge.
Avatar: The Way of Water is the best and best film as the closing film of 2022. This second film has a much different quality from the first film. There will be a special experience, of course, in watching the new adventure story of Jake Sully and Neytiri and their families. Avatar: The Way of Water is a sequel set a decade after the events of the first film. Of course, this sequel presents the story of the Na'vi nation and life on Pandora which is explored wider and farther by James Cameroon. This second film presents a new tribe and a new life that is really explored more widely. To support this, of course, the image quality and CGI of this film is much better and more interesting than the first film. With the concept of the aquatic world, the quality and CGI presented really spoil the eye. The depiction of the waters and their contents is really well drawn and visualized and beautiful. Not to mention the combination of dominant blue with supporting colors of marine life material that also spoils the eyes and amazes us. This film provides its own experience to see and witness the beautiful visuals of the sea.
Avatar: The Way of Water is a film that can be said to have strength and sell more in terms of visual quality than the plot and conflict. Indeed, the film presents a decade from the events of the first film. However, if you pay attention, this film is nothing but a place of revenge from Colonel Miles Quaritch to Jake Sully and Neytiri. Although there is a family conflict that provides a new story from the story of Jake Sully's life on Pandora. If we count, the film, which has a 3-hour runtime, has a 60% story plot to explain the life and introduction of new tribes on Pandora. While the rest is a build up of Quaritch conflicts and interesting final battles. Likewise, there is a conflict with Jake Sully who has now become a father and is responsible for his family. However, this film still gives an emotional side to the audience. Especially on Jake Sully's emotionally draining family conflict at the end of the film.
Hangout (2016)
Too simple to bring up a story conflict
Nine celebrities were invited to come to a deserted island. However, the meeting immediately turned unpleasant with death coming one by one to them.
Hangout, a comedy story that comes from a Raditya Dika. After coming up with several films with the concept of a single young man and looking for a partner, Hangout came up with a comedy story that was different from before. A good step for Raditya Dika in developing his comedy story. Hangouts bring comedy and humor that are light to deliver and easy to enjoy. Pretty good and interesting story. But it does become quite often that films like this have a simple story premise with a clichéd ending plot. Too ordinary and flat that doesn't have a satisfactory finish.
Ghost Writer (2019)
Nice, moved, but less nervous
Naya, a novelist who accidentally finds an old diary from the new house she lives in with her sister. The diary is used by Naya for her novel story. However, something happened to Naya and her sister.
Ghost Writer is an Indonesian film that combines horror and comedy with good execution. A horror story wrapped in dialogue and comedy scenes that provide the perfect balance in this film. Different and unique horror story concepts. The appearance of jumpscares that fit in each scene. The comedy element given both in the form of dialogue and acting is not excessive and appropriate. A comedy that is light to perform but not a comedy that just comes casually. Comedy that is not excessive. Also on the story of the drama that is not excessive. Showing family drama in the last act makes the atmosphere touched by sadness and sympathy for the family story. Everything is able to be delivered snugly and balanced. The plot of the story that goes quietly, does not give a rushed story nor does it slow down. The dialogue used is so light and uses non-formal language that it gives a strong approach to the audience.
Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
Love Groot!!!
Peter Quill, forms his group of villains who are tasked with stopping a galactic warrior who plans to rule the world after obtaining the Infinity stone.
MCU brings a new twist to the journey of their superhero story. This time, with James Gunn, Marvel presents a group of superheroes from around the galaxy, the Guardians of the Galaxy. This film is quite fresh which presents the story of the formation of guardians who are far from monotonous. Guardians of the Galaxy can be brought with a light, fun story, full of comedy that fits and does not leave perfect action action. The plot of the story is quite good by presenting the dark side (from each scene of Ronan and Nebula) and fun (from the side of the journey of the Guardians). Guardians of the Galaxy became a bridge or gate for Marvel to introduce the concept of the universe that was part of this phase, starting with the introduction of Infinity Stones. With Guardians of the Galaxy as Marvel's first film to unite several individuals in one group (the Avengers are not included for me because some of the members already have their own films), in fact it is able to provide a fairly central and balanced portion of the role in it. Each character who has his own character does not eliminate the storyline that runs. This is due to the absence of an original story told in each character and focuses on the formation of Guardians groups. Guardians of the Galaxy for me is quite fresh, fun and crazy.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)
Not what I expected
After T'Challa's death, Wakanda faces unexpected attacks from an unprecedented world. Namor, who comes from the sea kingdom, terrorizes Wakanda regarding the existence of Vibranium which is now being controlled by the world.
The second sequel is a final tribute to Chadwick Boseman. Without his presence, this film feels like it is missing something distinctive and important. Losing Chadwick makes the film have a different storyline, but still stick to the previous principles. Wakanda Forever comes with a dark story in celebrating the disappearance of Black Panther and their king. The early part of the film shows a deep emotional side to give the last funeral of the King. Later, the film is brought to the story of sadness that is still attached to Ramonda and Shuri. Only then did conflict come with the existence of the sea world which then attacked Wakanda. Namor and Wakanda become a new story that complicates the situation and conditions of Wakanda.
Wakanda Forever is a sequel that too much to tell and deliver. For almost three hours, the film brings a lot of sad stories and new introductions that are less solid and neat to tell. The film's already good and interesting opening pays homage to T'Challa, immediately slamming to accept the fact that in the next scene the film is disoriented. Wakanda Forever tries to tell a new story of Wakanda's life after T'Challa's legacy. However, the presentation of the story is not right so that it makes the entire film less neat. The movement of each scene that seemed to me to be too fast even less flowed, as if moving one scene to another that was too focused and on the point. Emphasized by the unsatisfactory completion of the film and felt capable of more than just a scientific battle.
Wakanda Forever still presents a series of eye-catching visuals in it, from T'Challa's funeral ceremony to the depiction of the underworld and the beautiful kingdom of Namor through small details in it. The beauty of Namor's costume and his underwater kingdom deserves to be appreciated. Likewise, Queen Ramonda's appearance is quite good with large portions. Also Tenoch Huerta's performance as Namor who looks cool and impressive. One thing that was less interesting to me was Shuri's selection as Black Panther which was not satisfied and for me was not quite right. Likewise, the post credit scene that features T'Challa's child scene which for me is too forced (especially seen using a dubber to voice the child).
Captain America: Civil War (2016)
One MCU film that presents an epic battle between Tony and Steve
After the battle in Sokovia, the world government made rules to regulate the activities of the Avengers so as not to cause more damage. This plan creates a rift between Iron Man and Captain America, causing a civil war between them.
Civil War is the anti-climax of the Avengers story along with Iron Man and Captain America. A political story involving two camps that makes the storyline not focused on Captain America's story alone. This film goes deeper and further into their internal problems as members of a group containing superheroes. Civil War has brought a sense of division from the beginning of the story. Making this film is quite firm and fast enough to show their side of internal divisions. Similar to the previous film (The Winter Soldier), Civil War brings the story of the Avengers with dense material. The plot is not much with a long-winded drama story, but comes with conflicts that come continuously. Neatly constructed in every scene and dialogue. Also a good story is brought gradually to the problem of the story. One of the excitement of Civil War is the presence of new characters such as Black Panther and Spider-Man. There is also a large portion for Vision and Scarlett Witch in this film. One more interesting and exciting thing is the battle scene both at the airport and the two-on-one battle between Tony Stark, Steve Rogers and Bucky. Unfortunately in this case, Zemo got an unsatisfactory story completion even though Zemo's performance in this film was very stunning and memorable.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
One of the conflict-ridden stories in the MCU
While living his modern life, Steve Rogers fought alongside S. H. I. E. L. D. to eradicate the covert evil that threatened their existence. This time, Steve has to face the Winter Soldier who is none other than his past friend.
The story of Captain America in the Marvel Universe is undoubted. An interesting heroic story with a series of Chris Evans performances that look mighty. Continuing from the first film, The Winter Soldier comes with a more interesting story than the first film. Introducing Winter Soldier as the antagonist and Sam Wilson as Falcon who becomes Steve's new partner provides a fairly dense story and conflict. Conflict is a dense problem by presenting a political story in it. The presence of Hydra in S. H. I. E. L. D's body makes for a good and somewhat unexpected storyline. The depth and density of conflict can be seen from the many new problems that arise gradually. Also brings good action action. The Winter Soldier brings to the story of the Marvel Universe hero film that is memorable dark and deep. It can be seen from the plot that is able to describe Steve and Bucky's relationship which looks close and emotional. Also Steve and Natasha's relationship in their romantic story. In addition, The Winter Soldier is also fairly capable of providing changes and nuances that are different from the previous film. This can be seen from the sharp visuals and cinematography that leads to one focal point that produces strong scenes. The Winter Soldier is a Marvel Universe film series than films like Iron Man and Thor which so far have not looked satisfactory.
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
It's better and looks perfect in any way
Steve Rogers, a skinny young man originally from Brooklyn aspired to defend his country during World War II. Instantly, he got a super soldier serum that made him a super soldier known as Captain America. He is tasked with defeating the evil leaders of the Nazis who want to use magical powers to conquer the world.
Marvel is back with its new hero who was a famous captain during World War II, Captain America. The appearance of this film again increased the audience's passion in enjoying the presentation of hero stories from Marvel after the unsatisfactory Thor film for film connoisseurs. Captain America's first film shows his original story as a soldier who gets a super soldier serum. Neatly and nicely presented conflict. Bringing up the twists and turns of Steve Rogers' journey in carrying out his duties as an icon of American heroes. Simple story plot. As the opening film of Captain America, this film presents the story with the same formula as the previous film by trying again with the introduction of characters through the original story. In fact, I feel that this film shows a fairly thick American-centric side. It can be seen from the story style and characterization of Captain America itself, which to me seems too superior. This first film is not only a film with the story of Steve Rogers, but raises the story of the forerunner of S. H. I. E. L. D. as an organization of heroes in the world. The First Avenger deserves to be the opening of Steve Rogers' frog in the Marvel hero story. The appointment of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers is indeed profitable. The suitability of the burly stature is also supported by a charming face that makes Captain America's image and first impression extraordinary.
Iron Man Three (2013)
I am not satisfied with this third film even though the film shows a different side of Tony and experiences different conflicts
When the world is rocked by a terrorist named Mandarin, Tony Stark and Iron Man embark on a new journey as superheroes without their sophisticated tools to defeat the terrorist. The presence of Mandarin makes all people around him become victims of the great power of Mandarin.
Iron Man 3 returns with a new enemy with mysterious powers. The third film from Iron Man is somewhat less good than the previous two films. Not much presenting Tony with his flagship suit, this third film shows more on Tony Stark's character development marked by the fall of Tony's prestige and personality who is in a weak state. Iron Man 3 also brings a bit of a storyline that is not neat to be presented. Also less dense story conflicts. Too many story plots are wasted. This third film presents a plot twist in it from the Mandarin character himself. Tells the story of a Chinese character who looks threatening, but not memorable after knowing his true identity. While the main antagonist is not memorable and less convincing. It's a pity that this third film did not go well. Some scenes that do feel too far-fetched or too long to be presented. This then leads to a boring storyline. Nevertheless, Robert Downey Jr., Guy Pearce, Don Cheadle and Gwyneth Paltrow played well and quite satisfactorily. The film as a whole is less than good and less than perfect.
Iron Man 2 (2010)
A bit disappointing, but treated with War Machine
The world has learned that Tony Stark is Iron Man causing new problems. Tony met resistance from his business rivals who wanted to imitate military clothing with armor and technology. Followed by a new opponent who wants to destroy Tony's inheritance from his father in Stark Industries.
Iron Man 2 brings a new enemy that seems to me less memorable. Whiplash and Hammer became less than perfect enemies in the development of Iron Man 2. This film has a new conflict with a new enemy that threatens a different side of Tony. Hammer as a business competitor while Whiplash becomes an enemy who wants to avenge him. It's a pity to see the appearance of the two enemies. At first glance, it doesn't have a good impression, especially the less promising Whiplash characters. Hammer's presence doesn't say much in the film either. Less convincing in terms of the appearance of evil characters and less convincing as evil characters. Iron Man 2 presents a conflict that is not much different from the first film by continuing Tony Stark's story as Iron Man. The plot of the story for me has a little dark tone in it from the first film. Iron Man 2 also introduces a new character who becomes a sidekick that matches Iron Man.
Iron Man (2008)
Opening characters, opening story
Tony Stark, a billionaire playboy, is held captive in Afghanistan to be forced to make deadly weapons. The incident changed Tony's life to become a hero in sophisticated armor.
Iron Man is the opening of the Marvel universe film which is quite satisfying and attracts public attention in watching superhero-themed films. Has a simple story, but can provide Tony Stark's original story with his fun Iron Suit. Pretty good story conflict. It is enough to introduce heroes like Iron Man with a story that is not too exaggerated by building characters gradually. Iron Man gives a good impression in the journey of the Marvel universe in the future. Starting out as the central character in a Marvel hero movie, Iron Man should have gone further to develop. In this film, the appearance and portrayal of Tony Stark and Iron Man are quite accurate with the comics. Nice and charming Iron Suit design. Robert Downey Jr.'s performance as Tony Stark is pretty good. Robert is able to play a millionaire in a haphazard style. I love his stature and the way he brings Tony Stark.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005)
A beautiful world, but not with a storyline
Four siblings accidentally enter a magical wardrobe connected to the world of Narnia. There they lead an army with a mighty lion to fight an evil witch who has turned the world of Narnia into winter forever.
When I watched it as a child, this movie was indeed amazing. How they narrate and describe the wonderful Narnia well and well. After trying to start following the original novel, I went back to watching the film to compare whether the imagination I imagined matched the movie. For me, it's quite beautiful. The world of Narnia is perfectly and well described. Each character and world of Narnia is able to be created in as much detail as possible.
The Lion, The Wardrobe and The Witch serve as the opening of The Chronicle of Narnia film series. The first film is enough to tell the story of Narnia and everything in the world and its fantasies. Attractive winter beauty. Character portrayals containing mythical characters and interesting fantasy characters. The plot is slow but enough to carry a story that can be said to be the opening door of the follow-up film series. I love the characterizations in this film. Four children trying to explore a new world give the atmosphere of a good fantasy story. The first Narnia film is indeed good enough to introduce the world of Narnia, but the conflict presented looks so simple. An adventure story that to me looks simple and lacks strength. The conflict is not presented strongly and solidly even though the acting from Tilda Swinton is quite good. The plot of the story is also not too dense. It's a pity that the storyline is not as good as the visuals. For war action, I think it's not enough to bring it. Too childish war scenes. It might be exciting when I saw it as a child. But when I repeat it feels less noticeable to say it is a war.
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008)
As the second movie, it's pretty good
The Pevensie brothers return to the world of Narnia. For this time, they came to Narnia at the call of danger from Prince Caspian whose inheritance rights had been usurped by an evil King.
Continuing from the first film, Prince Caspian provides a broad storyline from the world of Narnia. Prince Caspian brings on the plot of Narnia which faces difficulties again in the midst of the invasion of a kingdom inhabited by humans. New conflicts but feel less solid strength for the storyline. The return of the Pevensie brothers to become king and queen again is not perfectly packaged. The scene that shows as if they are dazed and confused by the condition of Narnia that they left behind feels bland to be delivered. The presence of Prince Caspian in the story is quite interesting for this second film. However, it is unfortunate to pack the background and machinations of Prince Caspian and Telmarine. It's unfortunate for the storyline and conflict that had to be shared between Prince Caspian and the Pevensie brothers. It feels balanced but does not become a complete unity in packaging the film's storyline. The Pevensie brothers and Prince Caspian are poorly presented. Although the four children have been kings and queens, in fact in this second film it looks as if they are present like a new King who knows what to do and shows that Aslan still has control. In fact, Aslan's presence at the end provides a pretty good storyline.
The beauty of Narnia in this second film still feels beautiful and good. The depiction of a world with natural beauty that is still pleasant to look at. The visuals in the film feel light and detailed in drawing every mythical character in this film. The film's balanced tone between bright and dark tones is depicted in each scene that shows the different situations of the Narnia World Group and the Telmarine Kingdom. It's unfortunate for the less appetizing war scenes to witness such a good action treat. Showing a war strategy that for me is less than optimal and ordinary.
Goe-gi-maen-syon (2021)
Pretty good even though the tempo of the film is fairly slow
A horror story writer did some research into an obsolete apartment building to get a story idea. The apartment building holds a mystery and horror story that has become the fruit of people's lips.
Korean films never give a different and interesting touch in each genre of film. Including horror films that never fail and always give a scary and terrible horror feel. Ghost Mansion provides a unique story in it in one story that is interrelated in it. With the story of a cartoonist who is looking for horror story ideas, Ghost Mansion provides a scary horror story in it as many as five horror stories as a story plot. Each story is able to provide a good horror atmosphere. Although it doesn't bring up many ghosts, the scary impression is still felt. The scary impression refers to the jump scare scene that fits snugly into the storyline. As well as the supportive music of the horror scene. Coupled with the ending of the movie which becomes an unexpected plot twist.
Bridge of Spies (2015)
Spielberg-style spy movies
During the cold war, a United States lawyer was recruited as a defender of the Soviet Union's spies. In addition, he was assigned to be a negotiator in a spy exchange between America and the Soviet Union on a bridge.
Bridges of Spies, is not only a drama film about spies, but also a film with strong political elements in it. This film does not discuss the competition from spies, but also in political affairs where the film tries to describe and explain how the political situation at that time with the existence of the case. All of that can be conveyed well. However, a movie might be a boring movie for audiences who don't like this genre. In the cold hands of Steven Spielberg, the film has a visual beauty that features a winter that emphasizes the impression of the 'cold war' that is taking place. The dark tone of the film with formal attire throughout the film reveals the elegant impression of a lawyer and spy. Bridge of Spies has a fairly slow pace of the film, but it provides a dense story. The conflict that is given also shows how the situation and the complexity of negotiating and maintaining the self-esteem of a country's hegemony. The plot of the story is supported by dialogue that is so dense about the story and is able to build an atmosphere in the film. As a lawyer, Tom Hanks is able to play very well and is able to build an authoritative and friendly character with the clients he defends.
Cold Pursuit (2019)
The coldness of the snow with the coldness of your attitude
Nels Coxman, a snowplow driver, is trying to avenge the death of his son who was killed by a group of drug cartels. Nels must face the dangers that occur between the wars of drug cartel groups.
Cold Pursuit is a film adaptation directed directly by the original film director. Presenting Liam Neeson as the main character, this film is none other than other films that often star Liam. However, Cold Pursuit is not. If in general Liam Neeson plays with conflicts that require gunfights, Cold Pursuit comes with a different look. The plot of the story is tortuous and complicated with prolonged conflicts. Cold Pursuit provides an unusual story. In this film, the fight and gunfight scenes are quite loud and sadistic. Some scenes seem to be covered as if they give such a hard and heavy impression. Cold Pursuit is filled with dialogue that's dark comedy. This can be seen from several scenes that show a flat situation in seeing death to showing a screen with a black display of each deceased name. Cold Pursuit also has interesting cinematography.
However, Cold Pursuit has a simple story premise. The conflict between the cartels is indeed made so complicated. However, in building a story with a revenge situation, Cold Pursuit almost has the same storyline as other Liam Neeson action films. Showing revenge action full of gunfights and hard punches. The film has some poor acting from the actors. Liam Neeson's performance to me is just like any other film, featuring a father fighting for a surname. For Tom Bateman I was less satisfied with his performance. Supported by other actors related to Tom who have unsatisfactory performances.
