I will never forget this movie due to the amazing performance of Ed Norton. This, by the way, was the first major film he performed in and it took him from virtually unknown down the path to stardom.
Another reason I'll remember this movie is the music during the end credits. I was shocked at the hauntingly beautiful voice of Dulce Pontes singing "Cancao do Mar" (song of the sea). Apparently she is well known in Europe, especially in Portugal.
Oddly enough, she was watching this movie in a theater and was surprised to hear herself singing during the end credits. At the time, she didn't know her song was going to be used in the movie.

You may think this is a "woke" ultra feminist movie but it isn't. It's a subtle horror movie that pulls you in right away and showcases the amazing talent of two of today's best actors: Jessie Buckley and Rory Kinnear. They both consistently amaze me with their performances in film after film.
The mythology, as another reviewer explained, has to do with the ancient Pagan Myth of the "Green Man". It is an appropriate watch considering that Halloween is just a month away as I write this.
The effects and CGI are pretty amazing as applied to the characters that Rory Kinnear plays. I'm convinced that there is no character that he couldn't play if he put his mind to it. I could say the same for Jessie.

A previous reviewer said, "I know that Americans don't really care about the worlds History and try to make it entertaining instead of relating true events as they actually were."
Please don't generalize like that. I am an American and I absolutely DO CARE about historical accuracy. Films are made for entertainment and I can enjoy them even knowing that they do not follow historical fact. However, I would have enjoyed it much more if it was accurate to the real history.
Many of us "Americans" are descendants of the people of the British Isles and a lot of us find the history there fascinating. Overall, I found the movie to be very well done even if the history was not fully portrayed with accuracy.
