I just don't get it

Maybe I'm just dumb or something but I actually don't quite get the plot of this movie.
I mean the two leads are lovely and the movie itself is not boring, I just failed to see what is the message of this movie? Did Victor discover something at the end? Did the two become lovers or something? So many unanswered question which makes me feel like the movie should have more to it.
Haven't said that, I think this movie overall is ok-ish. Handsome leads, beautiful scenery, I'm not saying this is a bad or terrible movie, but it feels incomplete at the end. Also, homosexuality obvious is not the key theme here so if you are looking for a gay movie, this might not be a good pick.
