The movie lacks good pacing. Most of the comedy doesn't land unfortunately - Jackman looks old and bored. And are we still doing the stereotypical offensive Indian characters in 2024? C'mon marvel, we all know you wouldn't show any black character in an offensive light. Mocking different races was never funny.
There is barely any narrative thread connecting this to the first two films but hey! It does exceed in being a ginormous try-hard onanistic advertisement for old Marvel franchises. If you're an easter bunny looking to collect them all, this might be for you, otherwise may I please recommend something along the lines of Dredd, PG Psycho Goreman, The Loved Ones, Dead Heat, Toxic Avenger, Der Samurai, Severance, or the wholesome series Ash vs Evil Dead? Bwahahahaha JUST KIDDING here's another intertextual Disney ad disguised as an actual movie!

I really don't understand all the love this movie gets. As most of you all have read, there are people out there that think The Batman is better than any of the Dark Knight trilogy or either of Burton's movies and I really don't understand it. Pattinson is horribly miss cast, he was good only for Twilight crap.
The story kind of loses itself as it progresses and the score has one good track that is played over and over. I know the director was trying to make this the most grounded and realistic Batman to date but in doing so, he made it unbelievable... what's up with Batman being so accessible and accepted around cops that at times he walks amongst them like he's one of them? If someone really wanted to find out the identity of Batman, couldn't they use facial recognition technology by taking his picture while he's hanging around? The Batman I am more familiar with lurks in the shadows and really only talks to Gordon and other people in his inner circle on rare events.
The soundtrack is also flat and boring, none of the intensity that the Nolan movies had. Scarecrow in Batman Begins was way more scary than the goofy Riddler in this movie. DC needs to get its thing together and use some actual good directors.

So this is Dev Patel's directorial debut huh. After doing stereotypical movies like Slumdog Millionaire and Lion, you'd think Dev would finally do something different this time. This should just have been a John wick type action movie with cool action set-pieces and nice locations, but Dev once again decides to focus on the poverty of India instead. The same poverty porn imagery for western audiences...C'mon man....you could've done so much more with this....
The story is nothing to talk about - the cliche 'mom died so revenge' plot from 80's and 90s Indian films. The villain is one-dimensional and forgettable. And what's with showing Indian govt as an oppressive hindu regime? If you want real religious oppressive countries, check out some Islamic countries like the neighbour Pakistan instead.
The action was supposed to be the main selling point here but even that's quite average. Lots of cheap blood and gore everywhere doesn't make a good action movie. Shaky cam is also overused so half the time you can't see what's going on properly. Dev said he took inspiration from Korean action movies but this movie fails to reflect that.
If you make more movies in the future Dev, please don't use the poverty angle again.
