Do you remember the 1964-65 World's Fair? This very comprehensive documentary is more than mere nostalgia. Sure it evokes many memories and emotions but, it's also a look at a point in our cultural and economic history.
The World's Fair I think truly reflected where we were as a nation, and for better or worse what our values and aspirations are. In turn, the film accurately reflects the experience visitors felt.
Despite having lived through the experience, I learned a lot about the behind the scenes creativity that was involved and how so much of the technology of the exhibit itself gave birth to new forms of entertainment such as Disney World and Epcot. Ironically so many of the "predictions" ofthe future, like flying cars either never transpired or came in totally different forms. ("picture phone on wall of kitchen, no. Skype /zoom on cellphone, yes, 50 yrs later)

What a load of gibberish. I can't believe all the Stellar reviews here.
This movie is totally disjointed and unintelligible which is ironic since it's about an autistic accountant who, by the way, seems to slip in and out of autism.
So much wasted talent here and a wasted premise which is held back by a bad script and totally illogical narratives. I wish I could give this more "credit." or points on the "ledger.". If you like random scenes strung together, not knowing what's a flashback and what isn't and a bunch of cliches, than maybe the numbers will add up for you. As far as I'm concerned, time to "close the book" and find a new accountant.

How ironic. The directors decided that a bunch of talking heads, albeit famous ones, babbling about the subject is better than actually giving the audience illustrations of the man's work? Peter this, Peter that. Let's see him. Just a sprinkling of clips from a few films, a few audio and videos of O'toole being interviewed.
I don't think I can get through this, as much as I admire actors like Hopkins, Jacobi, Sian Philips etc. I recommend just watching Lawrence, Ruling Class, My Favorite Year etc. Do a YouTube search for interviews with the subject, Google articles. You'll learn more and be more entertained.
