This show was an every Sunday night event in our home when I was a child. I even had a Collie named Lassie. Now, watching the reruns I can not believe how disobedient and headstrong both Jeff and Timmy were! And, both were far too coddled; Jeff by his mom, and Timmy by both of his adopted parents. Both boys needed firmer discipline! And, both of them at times were very unkind to Lassie! Poor Lassie seemed to be at both boys' beck and call, often running the dog ragged. Lassie was definitely the star of the show. The dog was amazing to watch as he carried on rescue missions as if human, and how quickly he recovered from each surgery and injury the dog sustained.

My favorite characters were Ellen Miller, Jeff's mom and the original Martin couple who adopted Timmy. The Lassie series was, and still is a classic. I still enjoy watching Lassie's adventures, despite Jeff and Timmy's behavior at times! It's a shame they don't make tv shows like this one anymore.
