Over the years, I've almost given up on horror films. Most are essentially comedies to me, without meaning to be. It's rare that I even get an uneasy feeling and watching any movie, but this one succeeded in doing that.
The acting was good and while it was essentially filmed low budget, it didn't feel that way. Carolyn Bracken did an amazing job within her roles and I would like to see more from her in the future.
It was a relatively simple film and of course had plot holes and points that made no sense... But even after that, it was definitely worth the watch. I do wish they would have removed the last scene from the movie though. It was not needed and only detracted from the positives.

This has by far the worst acting of any Apple show that I've seen. I look forward to watching most Apple shows as they are generally produced very well with good actors. I only started it because O'Shea Jackson Jr. Is in a lead role and feel he has really come up as a pretty decent actor. Not the best, but most everything he is in is pretty good. He really let himself go for a role as a basketball coach and it doesn't play well. I have no idea if that's what they sent out to do with it, but it just doesn't seem right. His acting skills also seemed to diminish to equal with the rest of the cast. The best actress in the whole show is the mom and I've never seen her act before this. The child actors are all just bad, to be quite honest. The scenes feel extremely forced and the production is also bad. I was originally going to rate a 5, but kept watching and realized that was too generous. Down ranked to a 3 and if I watched anymore I'm afraid it would go down to a 1 without remorse.
I've seen pretty much every movie and every show worth seeing and know by this point good and bad acting. What I don't understand is how anybody could say that was soulless acting.
The only thing I didn't like was the 80's style that was thrown into it. However, the acting was great for this type of movie. Honestly, it's been a long time since I've felt pressure in my chest watching a movie. That feeling is rare especially for someone like me and that comes from a gripping tale. This gripped me... Lost me, gripped me again and then at the very end... Lost me.
I felt like the ending should have left in suspense. That suspense was lost to me, along with a feeling of confusion. I understand what happened, but the 80's ending really did nothing for me.
Anyways, I could go on for a while about how I felt, but better off just saying I thought it was a very intelligently put together movie. The expressions actually stated more than words themselves and to understand the characters so well by the end of the movie is kind of breathtaking. In that sense of it all, it may have been one of the best movies I've ever seen. Not saying I'll ever admit that to anybody else than you guys, but hey... I'm saying it now.
