I miss the XL versions of this programme, they were so much more fun, but I suspect you can have too much of a good thing & this IS a good thing.
Sandi Toksvig is genuinely one of those people who seems to enjoy her work, I hope she does as I thoroughly enjoy watching her. I'm going to be controversial and suggest Sandi is better than Stephen Fry, who to my mind was less giving to the women.
Each programme gives an opportunity for the 'contestants' though just what is at stake is hardly worth mentioning, to shine in some form.
There is a real mix of people, ages, sexes, sexualities etc.. This gives scope to all viewers to latch on to various parts of the programme. General Ignorance is a great section, especially when the obvious answer, is, for a change, the right one!
Sit back, relax & laugh. BTW, spoiler alert, you may actually learn something as well! Blue Whales rule!

It's a must on my PVR. I genuinely think this is one of those programmes that if you can give it the space to perform gives way more than you expect. Questions are hard, and supposed to be, but it's lateral thinking that really counts. Sadly I'm not that lateral, I get a couple of questions in the first two rounds, am not too bad at the walls & thrive on the missing vowels.
Victoria is the perfect foil for the contestants who are allowed to be themselves, whom ever they are, and she just keeps the pacing spot on. If people don't know the answers, she doesn't chide them, she'll probably agree, the question setters were being daft!
Watched every episode, you can get caught up liking teams who fail but that's part of the enjoyment.
Like it or loathe it, this is one of those that'll engage if you let it.

The set up isn't too bad, & the cgi, passable. However, we stray pretty quickly into Independence Day territory. Oh look, you have the geek, oh look you have the aged father, oh look, no one believes the scientist, oh look you have the so called advisor getting...... Just to add icing to the cake, there is even a stupid & pointless version of 4th July speech, I won't tell you by whom, you need something to look forward to.
Norway looked as cool as ever & if they were given someone with real authority to write something better it could have been a halfway decent film.
It's not a complete waste of time but, take the dog for a walk, haven't got a dog, go to a shelter, adopt!
