This was a shining star of the season for me. I really enjoy the 2 leads and they did not disappoint. The entire cast was delightful. The humor brought the story up an extra level. I truly laughed out loud a few times. As mentioned in another review, the subplots added even more dimension and were well done without seeming rushed or too thin. I don't see how anyone would fail to enjoy this movie, but to each his own. . I do realize that most of us have to be in the mood for a Hallmark rom com to fully appreciate it. But for me, I say bravo on such a worthy Christmas addition - and I'd certainly watch it again.
I don't think this one was so bad. If I could give it a 6.5 I would do that. It wasn't Oscar quality for sure but there aren't many of these romcoms that come close to that anyway. It was passable fare for a Christmas movie and I very much enjoyed the scenery and all the shots of the lovely craft items - some of the glass ornaments were stunning. That was really well done. I am not British and I think that helped a lot because I didn't see the inauthenticities other reviewers were concerned about ( though I'm sure they are valid). As an American, I appreciated what I saw and enjoyed the overall feel of the whole movie.
Some of the acting was just okay but the actress who played Emma did, to me, seem to play the part as written - she started out fairly unlikeable but you warmed up to her, and as her backstory became more obvious, her character became much more likeable. Poppy Gilbert was, however the shiny light here. She reminds me of a young Emma Thompson and I liked her character from the beginning. All of the cast did their job of supporting the principals even tho most didn't get much air time.
I'd watch it again.

This. This is what all of us watch Hallmark for. Or what we hope for as we watch. A Hanukkah movie ( or any movie) without the silly tropes and cliches - with people who seem real to us, people we recognize, people treated with dignity and who treat each other (and everybody else) with respect, patience, and kindness. Thank you.
The entire cast was above the norm. Every single one. Upbeat even through their difficulties, they managed to keep this in a positive frame and made us feel good - and our interest and time investment validated - a perfect holiday movie. Not being Jewish myself, it taught me things as the movie progressed. What could be better than all this. Again, thank you.
