Haunt Season (2024)
Loved this movie.
I bought the movie by chance. Glad I did it will become a Halloween staple. It has everything I look for in a movie to have a fun Halloween season at home. Atmosphere, costumes, haunts, scares decorations, Suspense, good kills, creepy characters. The acting was actually perfect for the type of movie, some performances were better than others, but that just made it seem more realistic for the theme. People act pretty much how they did in the film. I am hoping a sequel is to come. If I could make any suggestions to the filmmakers it would be to build the hunts/kill moments up a little more to make the suspense stronger before something bad happens. I think they missed a little bit on the chance to really scare the viewer. Over all though a lot better Halloween themed movie than I had anticipated. Thanks for actually making something for Halloween lovers.
EXmas (2023)
We enjoyed it.
If you want to watch a fun light Christmas movie this is a good film to watch. It may not have be groundbreaking or any type of holiday masterpiece but it was funny and made me think about getting ready for family Christmas. I found the main characters mother and family's to be very funny. I highly recommend this movie to get into Christmas spirit along with remembering what dating was like around the holidays. Especially the ex, the girl that got away! The small town feel and winter of Wisconsin added to the Christmas atmosphere. It was much like a decent Hallmark Christmas movie with more comedy. I may have to add this to my yearly Christmas movies.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)
Really enjoyed it.
First of all the people saying it didn't need to be made, I will never understand why people can't just enjoy more movies on characters and themes they love. I feel like people always have this ridiculous level of expectations. It's Indiana Jones!!! It's adventure... It's action... suspense.... FUN! Remember when movies could just be fun without every part if it being ripped apart by couch critics??? That most likely have 0 creativity themselves. I really get disgusted by the fact that people can't just enjoy films for what they are. Entertainment. I thought this edition of Indiana Jones was exactly what I hoped for. Fun. Adventure. Nostalgia. Treasure. Borderline mystical. Great job to everyone involved making it. Now I hope they find a way to bring back a version of Indiana for future adventures. I don't care about people that complain about leaving alone what has been already done. I want more adventures. Much like James Bond, we can have more adventures even if it's not the same exact actor. Or create a new character to take up where Indy left off. Just lets have more adventures to remember.
Just one real fan's opinion.
Der Greif (2023)
Love it.
Fun dark fantasy with a cool mysterious world. Great cast even watching dubbed is great. I wish there were more shows like this when I was a teen! Love the mix of pop culture and horror, fantasy, mystery, and adventure. I think the acting is perfect for this type of show. The villains are evil and the kids/hero's believable. I wish there were more episodes per season. The special effects are cool and fit the feeling of the show. There has already been a few twist in just the first six episodes so I'm we are headed towards even more. This show is outstanding fun! I just hope Amazon Prime vid is smart enough to renew it. It's one of the best shows they offer for genre fans like me.
FUBAR (2023)
Love this show!
I don't care what other people think, in my opinion this show is great. I laugh out loud a lot during every episode. I think the cast has excellent chemistry. Each character is funny in their own unique way. I find the dynamic between father and daughter to be hilarious. How to describe the show... it's like Get Smart meets Mission Possible? Comedic, but also action packed as any good James bond movie. The plot is pretty suspenseful and I like how episodes overlap. I really enjoy this Spies Like Us type show and hope that Netflix doesn't let me down and renews Fubar for a second and third season. We need more comedies in the TV world. With Ted Lasso and Barry ending I have been loving Fubar. We don't need more reality tv shows or documentaries about depressing events still going on, we need to laugh, we need excitement and more action. More Fubar! Please.
The Pope's Exorcist (2023)
Loved it.
I thought it was a great Exorcist tale. Possibly my favorite yet! The story was much better than I expected and the fx were genuinely creepy! Acting was good. Russell Crowe was outstanding. He played the character very powerfully. I'll tell you now, if the devil came a knocking; I think Russell Crowe's version of the Priest would be who I'd call. I loved the location atmosphere. The back story was awesome, I believe it was based on a true story. I'm sure loosely based, but still thought it was interesting. It would be a good adventure/mystery sequel to try to discover and search out other creepy locations where similar events have occurred. Two horns up for this movie from me!
I'm sure other people will complain about one thing or a other, but if you like creepy religious myths and horror than this will be a good watch for a Sunday afternoon (especially if you just got home from Church. Warning- may need to go back say a few prayers after... just incase. :)
The Empty Man (2020)
Wow.
This has to be one of the most underrated movies I have ever watched. This film was outstanding in my opinion- a mystery horror/lore HP Lovecraftian fan. It was so good! A Creepy, exciting, atmospheric, mysterious, twisting dark movie that I am Immediately regarding as a personal classic to be watched repeatedly especially around Halloween. Highly recommend for horror/mystery fans. I don't know why this wasn't marketed more for theater release. It was a lot better than the average movie produced these day. I can only hope the writer/director can somehow finance a sequel to follow the story further. What mayhem lies ahead! Keeping my fingers crossed someday we find out more! A+. This movie was a hidden gem.
Beef (2023)
One of the best series all time.
There are so many reasons why I absolutely loved this series. Original plot, great characters- you feel you know inside and out, Dark comedy, foreshadowing, irony, anger, revenge, love, sex, drama, intelligence, stupidity, greed, respect, family, fear, loneliness, rich people, poor people, humanity, conflict, caring, differences, similarities... I could go on and on! This show has just about everything you could want. The acting is outstanding and you love and hate everyone at different times. This is one of the best shows I have ever watched. It seems like it will be one season only, which is both a good thing and bad one! I'm not sure they could create a second season as great as this first one. A second season would definitely have to be a different story in order to not ruin the perfection of season one. High two thumbs way up recommendation.
Unstable (2023)
Funny!
This is a really fun and funny show. I know not everyone likes all comedies. One star? Some of these reviews are way too critical. This really is a good show. Much funnier than those horrible reboots how I met your father, that 90's show, and Night Court!
This was a lot funnier than I had expected, hopefully it get's renewed for another season. There is no ridiculous laugh track, thankfully. The writing is fresh and funny. The actress that plays Anna is perfect as the CEO of Rob Lowes
Character Ellis's company. She is great as the funny yet "straight" man to Lowe's wildness. Rob Lowe's son does a great job playing his son in the show. Def worth the time.
The Lake (2022)
6 stars for the Monster!
5 stars for the monster. Another added because the acting wasn't bad. 0 Stars for the story. The story made absolutely 0 sense. Not sure if in Korea it makes more sense and I just didn't get it being an American. I keep thinking about the movie and I don't understand how they couldn't make a monster movie that made the most basic sense. I think they may have been implying the monsters destroying everything were actually humans transformed or evolved or devolved or something; now trying to live among humans. That's my guess, but I really am not sure about any part of the plot's meaning. There was a lot of symbolism and foreshadowing pointing to many possibilities, but they forgot to ever explain the meaning to the viewers. What a waste of an awesome monster. I really think I could sit here for a few hours and take the ideas they presented and write a story that would satisfy viewers. The lake plot was as if someone wrote down a bunch of emotions and story ideas then mixed them up in a hat, drew them and filmed the scenes to match, but never connected any of them together. Very frustrating.
The Outwaters (2022)
I give it 2 for premise and attempt
So I don't understand, was it just the same sequence over and over again? I have no idea. It seemed like it could be really scary but instead it felt like ground hog day of strange sounds and a couple images... did I miss something? Was my stream stuck on repeat or was it actually repeating the same footage over and over for 2 hours. Did anything change? Maybe I didn't really watch the entire movie, maybe I just think I did? I honestly have no idea what happened other than something with sounds and blood. Someone please explain so I know if I actually watched a movie or am I trapped in my own imaginary nightmare!!!! The only thing I understood was the beginning words on the screen and the end photos. Everything else was... I have no idea.
Terrifier 2 (2022)
Loved it.
Story was a tad confusing of what was actually developing. I feel like maybe writers know the complete story... but during editing important parts got edited out? Seems like its one or
Two scenes away from making more sense and being a masterpiece of horror. That being said I don't really care that much the Halloween atmosphere, gore, kills were great and let's face it that's is what all us fans really want from a Terrifier movie. I hope Terrifier 3 is being planned sooner than later. If someone wether a writer, editor director etc could just take the franchise one step further like the film Barbarian did with atmosphere and creep factor twisting story combined with Art the clown fun, sarcasm and gore then part 3 would be exactly what I want in a Halloween horror fest.
Deadstream (2022)
This was extremely fun
I loved the premise, the acting and execution was perfect! This film had great creepy atmosphere, great comedic timing and lines. It was actually pretty suspenseful and scary, but also dark and funny. It's like a cross between Blair Witch, Evil Dead, Hell House Llc. The filming was well done and there are many creeps going on that are easy to miss if not paying attention. The lead actor did a great one man show in my opinion. When he screamed I found myself jumping a mile. Definitely planning to add this one to my yearly Halloween watching. Highly recommended to Horror comedy suspense fans. I hope there is a sequel.... Another location with even more
Twists and turns, and hilarious lines, too.
Halloween Ends (2022)
I disagree with most of the reviews here.
Yep. There was nothing wrong with Halloween Ends. Just because it's not the story people expected or maybe wanted doesn't make it bad. Was it my favorite of the the Halloweens ?, no of course not. I did like the story premise and thought it was executed well. I would have liked more Halloween night atmosphere though, that's my personal preference and favorite part of the original. I wish some producers, somewhere, would put in a serious effort to increase the atmosphere of the next Halloween installment. I would definitely rank this higher in my Halloween list if there was some real creepy Halloween night buildup. I completely understand the movie taking a different direction/approach. I mean seriously they have to change up the story or we'd end up with the same movie repeatedly. The home critics on here definitely think they could create a better installment, as always. I'm glad I don't watch movies based on other's opinions. I will always support filmmakers trying to give the fans more of the movies we love.
Raven's Hollow (2022)
I enjoyed this film
Around Halloween I always look for some good dark horror movies with a lot of atmosphere. I thought this movie was great. People of course will over criticize it pointing out it's flaws or whatever. That's everyone does when they post reviews these days. Well, I loved for what it is not what imagined film it "could have been". I thought it was creepy. Great villain look! Good acting and an overall interesting story idea. I will be purchasing this one for future Halloween rewatches. Check it out for yourselves on Shudder. I would love a sequel with even more dread and scares. The town was the perfect version of an old time creep fest. I can imagine finding the Raven hanging out there for generations to come.
Paper Girls (2022)
A good show that probably will keep getting better!
I am enjoying the show so far. At episode 4 and will continue to watch. First off, it is nothing like Stranger things in plot other than taking place partially in the 80's and with kids that have bicycles. All kids in the 80's rode bikes. So it makes perfect sense.
I love the sci-fi feel which is surrounded by mystery and time travel. Look forward to the adventures growing in scale. I'm not working one for being negative on a show just because not everything is how
I want it to be! That being said the few things that I personally feel would make me love the show more would be stronger 80' nostalgia. They sort of have it, but... it doesn't quite feel like the 80's during the 80's. Nor do the other times feel strong representing those time periods either. Kind of feels like they cut the budget low on atmosphere a bit. My only actual complaint and this hopefully will be much improved by seasons end/season two is the characters/actors timing with each other. Not a deal breaker, but to me the kids lines often feel like they are just blurting them out to everyone rather than actually engaging each other specifically in conversation. Sometimes feels like they are just try to get through a long run on sentence and their eye contact or lack of it is weird sometimes. Other than those points really enjoying the show hopefully it gets renewed!
Men (2022)
I liked it.
I disagree with most of these reviews honestly. It makes perfect sense to me. Does it require your own perception and analysis. Yes. Is it creepy. Yes. Does it symbolize a lot of gender issues between men and women historically. Yes. Will everyone understand or like it. No. Watch it yourself and find out. I personally liked the movie and the ending. The timing of the final scenes felt a little off, to me. Like I needed a bit more of a wow factor right at the very end or after the credits maybe. Other than I see what the writer and director were going for. Hope people keep making interesting horror like this in the future.
Dashcam (2021)
It was pretty crazy
It wasn't a slow burn found footage thats for sure. It was pretty intense wild imagery. I found it creepy and gross, so yes, I liked it! Some people complain about hating the main characters, but I personally never understand why you have to like characters to give a movie a good review. In this type of movie, It made sense to have an unlike able personality. I think the fast camera work and cut ups made it thrilling, but I think It could have been even more suspenseful if the there was a little less and maybe some of the timing was changed in the editing room. Just my opinion, some of the scares missed because my brain couldn't process the action fast enough, but I still love what they went for with this one.
Shining Vale (2022)
Funny funny funny
Laugh out loud funny horror comedy. Definitely worth a watch. Great comedic timing between the characters. The son cracks me up continuously. One of the best new comedies out in my opinion.
You Won't Be Alone (2022)
Unique tale/movie. Slow paced, but thought provoking
From reading the reviews here it is clearer than ever that a lot of people just don't enjoy or understand movies like this. It's a perfect example of why I always watch films I'm interested in and not base decisions on others opinions. To me this film is a tale of human life based around an outsiders point of view that has no previous understanding of emotions, love, loss, tragedy etc. She is cursed with little if any chance to be happy in life forever no matter who she is and what path is taken, but like all of mankind, learns as she goes. We as humans enjoy good times, but will always face tough and even horrible times. Even though we know these events are inevitable we persevere and continue on life's journey. So that's what I got from the film, maybe I'm way off? I don't think so though. Is it a movie I'd watch over and over again? Maybe one more time but probably not more than that. Am I glad I watched it, YES. It has my mind whirling a decent amount. It's not a "lets watch a fun Halloween horror flick movie" and definitely not a date night movie. It's slow and requires a good night sleep before hand. That said, I never felt like it was a waste of time like some people have said. You have to enjoy the idea that myths are based on real life's horrors. Being alone in this world can be scarier than any horror story monsters ever can be.
Metal Lords (2022)
Loved It.
Brought me back to High School... starting a metal was def a lot like this movie. Great fun but also so much drama! This movie was a very enjoyable tale about kids trying to find their way and backed by the power of being different and metal! Will be a classic on my shelf next to my Les Paul Guitar and Marshall Amp.
Our Flag Means Death (2022)
It's funny!
I guess some people don't love this type of comedy. Maybe they don't understand the jokes, who knows? After reading the reviews I was on the fence whether to watch or not. Then I thought I'm not going to trust other peoples opinions, so I watched and laughed... and laughed! I think the show is very funny. Can't wait to watch more! It's quirky characters/ship's crew are all really funny in this high seas tale of adventures and shenanigans!
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)
It was a good version/sequel
People writing bad reviews must want some type of magical miracle horror film that could never be made. It's about a creeper with a chainsaw, there are limits. This was creepy, brutal, shocking, interesting, well acted, and in a story reflective of current times. Good job creators! I guess it wasn't particularly "scary", though. I think that may be it's real flaw in my opinion. The suspense wasn't built up enough in the scenes to give me time to actually be as scared as I would have liked. That being said, It was definitely gruesome enough and looked great. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and would gladly watch more from this crew in the future.
See (2019)
Absolutely love this show
People comment on the premise being impossible, yeah of course it is. So what. That's what action fantasy is. Impossible stories to spark imagination and escape reality. The acting is great, the writing is great, the show is full of memorable characters and exciting unique action. I'm getting sick of reading negative reviews on movies/shows from people that must not like the genre of the shows they watch. Some people it seems don't even like anything actually. I personally can't wait for season 3. This show is outstanding!
Big Shot (2021)
Enjoyed season 1
I was surprised by how much I liked this show. Good acting, great messages about teamwork and friendships. I don't agree people that commented on the show being woke because there is a lesbian relationship. I personally hate shows that push lessons about sexuality and this is not one of those shows. It's a show about high school kids and their relationships and basketball, etc. There are gay relationships in High School obviously, so it fit in to have a natural portrayal in the show. It wasn't preachy, forced or the center of attention which is the way it should be in my opinion. People are just normal people no matter what there sexual preferences are and thats how its shown. Over all definitely enjoyable show. Looking forward to more Coach Korn and season 2.
