Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)
It was AWESOME!
This movie had some real nice direction to it. I more consider it a slow burn, but when the action picks up, it is glorious! I think the last two thirds is when this movie is really in its prime. The story twists and writing were also quite well done, something I hadn't seen since the first two Jurassic Park movies in this franchise. Definitely would recommend to anyone to see. :)
The Boss Baby (2017)
Really loved this film
I really enjoyed this film. It was imaginative, fun and just thoroughly entertaining throughout the whole time I was watching it. It had some actually genuine heartwarming moments that didn't feel manufactured like some other animated films I've seen in recent past. The animation was also just gorgeous. I really loved the look of the film, I thought it had a really nice aesthetic style and felt like a classic piece of animation that if CGI was around in the seventies, it would've looked like this. All in all, I personally loved this film. If you want something that's just plain fun, bizarre and imaginative- with a touch of warmth- I'd say check this flick out. But if you're looking for something with more of a concrete plot and a straight forward narrative, you probably won't find that here.
Ice Age: Collision Course (2016)
Really Funny Film
This movie really improved on the previous one. It set a great bar for the humour for the foremost, as me and the audience I was with were rolling around in laughter. And that's what really made the movie for me. It was just hilarious. The characters were still as memorable and funny as ever, the new additions were a delight and the crazy plot made it all the more perfect popcorn flick. I especially think young children ages 5 to 10 will love it, and you'd have to be a complete grump not to get even one laugh from the film when they're throwing jokes out left, right and center. Truly just a fun film. Left me feeling happy and exhilarated after the watch. I won't give any spoilers, just know this film had a much more complex plot than all the previous with many different story lines going on at once. I also think each character got the chance to shine in this one, which had been lacking in the previous two installments. But comedy wise, I actually think this could be smarter and funnier in it's humour to Secret Life Of Pets, which was really funny too- but more sight gags. Take your kids to see it if you want a fun film to pass the time, and remember to make a collision at the cinema!
Scaredy Squirrel (2011)
Scaredy Squirrel is Top notch
If your looking for a fun time, then I'd say check out Scaredy Squirrel. It's an underrated show but has a lot of good one liners and nice sleek animation. I've only see eight episodes but from what I've seen it's got me yearning for me. Scaredy in himself is a very endearing character. He's funny and cute and the voice work for him in particular is really well done. I'd say he is the best character on the show which is a benefit for him to be the main character. The other supporting characters in particular Dave, Nester and his mother are all memorable enough funny characters who get me to laugh every once in a while. The episodes are nice and bright and some of the gags are quite humorous. I especially like just how fun the show is. Every episode is just packed full of energy and spunk. I think compared to other kid shows like My Little Pony it stacks up pretty well with a more adult centric style so I'd say it'd be enjoyable especially for 7 to ten year olds with also getting a few gags in for older viewers. A fun show all around.
Mongrels (2010)
A hilarious show which I've watched over and over again
Mongrels in simple words is about city animals showing the true essence of urban dwellers. There's the scumbag Vince, the foreigner Marian, total bitchy teen Destiny and of course the modern meterosexual Nelson + the psychotic pigeon which does show some of the government hating people of the world. And after watching every episode around three times I can honestly say that this show is different in every manner- The characters are funny, the humor is so slapstick and crazy to a point that you wonder how the puppeteers get all the energy as well as the quick edits and frequent use of songs that are so well known they give a sense of sentimentality to the whole show. I think the show mainly works because of the male characters for unlike the two girls who are so over the top sometimes its hard to relate, most of the males are tamed down a little. The shows plots are inventive to say the least with story lines you wouldn't ever have imagined which I think is because unlike most adult comedy shows, it has animals as its characters which give a range of different stories that one could not usually use. Mongrels does tread the line a few times even going way past it in some of they jokes which a lot of people would find distasteful and would flick the channel over but after watching the first three episodes I eventually got accustomed and new that when watching the show there was always going to be something shocking but put in a comedic way. So if you want something that's fresh and new that has actually had some thought put into it, check out this show and maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised. 10 stars.
The Angry Beavers (1997)
A brilliant original show with great voice acting
What can I say about Angry beavers? Well I never really paid much attention to it when I was young but at the age of eighteen I happened to come across a DVD of it and was very surprised at its wit and humor. First and foremost there is Dag and Norb, two brothers left to create a home for themselves in the woods. I find their relationship interesting and humorous. Dag with his selfish ways ways and judgmental attitude was quite different from many other kid cartoon characters at the time, especially the fact that he would often go all the way through with something and when he comes to a realization he simply wouldn't care anymore about it, being indifferent to things which seemed so important in the start. And Norb, the brains of the operation, though with his cool outlook on life was very relaxed about most things unless it came to his Treeflower, in which he was a wreck in most cases of fear of loosing her. But when the two brothers were together they always did show support for each other and always came through for the other, even though their often obvious dislike. Often Norb was the straight man of the situation and would see the obvious of some of Dag's crazy schemes but you have to give Dag credit for all his effort. But the best thing about the show was the great chemistry between Nick Bakay and Richard Horvitz as they showed great true likeness to the other's character and really would remark if the other beaver said something stupid or incorrectly, which Norb and Dag did constantly. There was humor in every episode and even some touching scenes when the characters did show family importance. So all in all it is a great show for the young ones and even for some adults who want a show that in every episode focuses on the two main characters Dag and Norb, and never does any side stories so you'll be guaranteed it never strays from the lead roles which so many other shows do. What I found amazing as well was in so many episodes it was only Norb and Dag completely alone and if you can make episodes where the burden of a storyline is placed on only two characters and nothing else, then you've got a show that's special. And that is why Angry Beavers now has a place in my heart and my DVD shelf.
