Furthest Witness (2017)
The poster was better than the feature
That's par for the course with today's cinema (though there are still some lame posters out there). Aside from the poster, the only other thing I can praise in this movie is the lead actress. She was hot, but she can't act worth a damn.
This movie is full of uninspired camerawork, mediocre direction and a predictable script with hokey dialog. I have seen much worse come out of New Mexico, but this could have been so much better.
The other critique I'm sure this movie gets (aside from the boredom) is the extracted 2.35:1 from the 16:9 frame. It's a hackneyed attempt to make a low-budget indie look epic, when it's not even real widescreen.
Two Sinners and a Mule (2023)
Worse than expected
This is not a good western. It's not even good, accidentally.
Raleigh Wilson is known locally in New Mexico for being a stunt guy who gives "homie hookups" to his friends and grandkids while denying others opportunities.
That said, he did not get the cream of the crop for this awful movie. The cinematography was hit and miss, the acting was laughable at best. I'm not sure how Raleigh landed the director's chair on this (oh, yes I do: politics), but it's clear he should stay in stunts.
I give this 2 stars because some of the actors were trying their best with the material they had. Like I said, if you look up his director's filmography, you'll see there was a lot of cronyism here, too. I suppose for Hollywood it's par for the course.
My advice: skip this movie.
Coyo (2023)
I'm unimpressed
They talked this thing up like it was going to be the second coming. In the end, it's just another forgettable low-budget New Mexico production.
To be fair, it's better than most I've seen from the land of enchantment. I can at least appreciate what they were attempting to do. Still, it is what it is: mid at best. So-so acting, wonky camerawork, cheesy music. I think if they had not tried to hype it up so much, it would have been better received.
If this is re-made or re-booted, I'd advise getting a better cinematographer and post-production team. It's not bad as it is but it's far from great.

Letters at Christmas (2024)
Awful in every way
I'll get to the point: this is not a good movie. Even as a Christmas movie or a Lifetime knockoff, this piece of garbage is horrible.
First the lame and contrived story. The script is a mess: bad dialog, forced situations, poor structure. It's obvious Jim Burleson not only does not know how to make a movie but also cannot write.
I suppose they thought having Dean Cain (whoop) or a Star Wars connected cinematographer was going to be enough to whitewash Jim Burleson's lack of talent.
I do not for one minute believe that $3 million dollars was spent on this turkey. Not even a fraction of that. Heck, it would take 10 times that amount to make repairs to that crummy hotel they filmed at.
This was a pure ego trip and nothing more. This was a poor debut as a writer/auteur and it's clear the only thing giving "Dim" any credibility is his comic conventions.
Gold Raiders (2024)
Absolute trash
This has to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen, and I am someone who watches a lot of independent film. Easily, this garbage movie is in the top five worst stinkers I've ever laid eyes on.
Horrible script, abominable acting, 3rd rate cinematography, and probably the worst sound you will ever hear. I actually had to blast my tv volume at maximum during some scenes.
The picture is dark and muddy with poor shot compositions, and there is a lot of quality inconsistency throughout. The editing is just... not good.
I cannot believe $70,000 was spent on this turd. I saw this movie for free, so I'm glad they didn't make a dime off me. And I doubt they'll recoup their budget.
Awful waste of time. You heard it here first.
