Damsel (2024)
Predictable, babying the viewer
I tried my best to enjoy this. But with the main character being called Eloide which close to El from her previous role in stranger things it started to give me bad first impressions which after finishing the film were well founded. First and my biggest gripe was the script first Elodies lines were stating the obvious and really babying the viewer as if they have low comprehension skills.... Then we move onto the story line which could have been present in a much much better way. I would have not shown the dragon before Elodie meets it for the first time leaving some suspense.
The only saving grace was the music which could have made for an even better atmosphere if the cave wasn't so damn bright the whole film.
Then the second of the main issues with this film is how predictable and lazy the whole thing feels generic, makes me question whether it was written with chat GPT. Netflix if you had given me the money to do this I could have added suspense instead of this almost monotone storytelling. Somehow they even ruined the ending by having the dragon follow them home. Netflix has really gone down hill.
Halo (2022)
Season 2 and already slipping
I really enjoyed season 1 and was a bit of a shame it's been so long before season 2 came out. Recently season 2 came out and I am at episode 5.
The combat is well thought out and the story line is easy to follow for my girlfriend that hasn't played any of the games.
Frankly I am confused why is the story being almost speed run in season 2 and have every character have something going wrong for them all at once? Just very much feels rushed.
Then there is the jarring and nonsensical change of Cortana's appearance, it looked really good with the CG in season 1 (gave me the same vibe as the games) and now they have completely changed her look while not addressing it as if we wouldn't notice.
Sheroes (2023)
To painful and uneventful to get to the end.
Good god where to start well I couldn't even make it to the end of the moive
But let's start off with the nicknames they are given (wouldn't normally say this sort of thing about actresses but you opened the doors with the crazy hot naming) the names for them make no sense unless this film was meant to be a parody "crazy hot" well she just isn't (two of the others are more attractive), the "wanting star" appears to already be an actress in the film and some how acted better when pretending to be one in the film. Then a few minutes in they get on the plane which is the most hard to watch thing I have ever seen first off they have extremely cringe door opening sounds also from one angle it shows lights coming through the plane windows then the other it is dark (can see / that it's a sort of mdf wall) the cgi of the plane looks like it's more at home on the average YouTube video. The acting is we'll just flat out wooden and bad script writing to the point that the main characters appear to be asking out loud questions the viewers are meant to be asking themselves. My summary of this film would be bad acting, bad and uneventful script. Recommend to avoid and watch almost anything else.
The Batman (2022)
Mediocre
Overall the content was okay but I think around about an hour of the film could have been cut. Felt lacking in suspense at times and frankly it didn't really ever feel like the villain was a real treat. I paused when there was about 40 mins left and thought that it had to be close to the end. Overall didn't hate it just doesn't really stand up next to the dark night films.
