I loved how Uglies is told through Tally. She goes through a personal journey of discovery. What I liked about the story is Tally embraces her growth with honesty and vulnerability. That's what makes Tally so likeable and Joey King does a great job in communicating the character's emotions to the viewer. It takes a lot of courage to change everything you come to believe when new people and information forces you to.
Uglies is based on the four book series by Scott Westerfeld. I have not read the books, but decided to purchase the first book "Uglies" based upon loving the movie. My assumption is the movie "Uglies" follows the plot of the first book "Uglies". So the story does not end with "Uglies". I hope they make a sequel movie.

My advice is to avoid this movie if you do not like gratuitous violence. I found it very hard to watch, and many times almost shut it off. I kept watching hoping there would be a point. There isn't a point, other than maybe war is horrible. "Civil War" does not have a plot or a message. It just shows the violence of conflict. "Civil War" does not have hope, so is incredibly depressing. "Civil War" also does not have good character development, so you do not feel like you get to know and care about the characters.
All in all, "Civil War" is a missed opportunity in story telling. The American Civil War of the 1860's was a war rooted in principles about human freedom, and ended in abolishing slavery. If you are going to make a movie about a hypothetical civil war, there needs to be a division in values to drive the war. The movie needs to address this division so there is context to the civil war. If the writer(s) couldn't make up some division to explain the civil war, it should have just taken place in an existing present or past war and be about war journalist sacrifices. That is what "Civil War" is really about; war journalism. You don't need to make up a hypothetical US civil war to tell a story about war journalism. It would have more impact if it was about a real war, real events, and real journalist.
